I just got this cable box installed and I'm trying to program the "CBL" button on my URC-9910 remote to control this device.

I have tried codes:
0476
1106
0810

After entering the code and pressing 'Select' all I get is "Not Found".
For some reason the "CBL" button says it is a DVD. Do I need to clear the current code first.

I wouldn't think it would matter if I have the device or not that I'm trying to program, it should except the code. I got the code right from the OFA manual.

Can anyone explain what could be wrong?

Thanks,
Debbie

The device needs to be cable to accept cable codes.

1. press CBL
2. press and hold SET, screen changes to CODE SET
3. press SELECT
4. using the down cursor key, scroll until the device changes to CBL
5. press SELECT
6. enter code
7. press SELECT
8. exit

I tried above and that's when it would give me the 'Not Found' error.

I found that I needed to connect to my PC via the JP1 cable and program it that way.
Everything is fine now except that I needed to delete some of my Lx keys for other devices to add some more.
Memory was full. Is there anyway to expand the memory?

I log the JP1 programming, it rocks

Thanks,
Debbie

You cannot expand the memory.

With JP1, you can improve the way you use the memory that is there.

IIUC, you have a few learned keys for each of several devices (implying you have a working setup code for each device). You don't have enough total learning memory for all the signals you want.

With JP1 you can look at decodes of your learned signals. In most cases that is all the info you need to redefine each learned signal as a KeyMove. KeyMoves are smaller and use a different section of memory. So if you have a little free space in the KeyMove area, you can use it to free up a lot of space in the Learned Signals area.

If your KeyMove area is also full, you can probably free up KeyMove space by defining device upgrades. Or you could convert all your learned signals to KeyMoves and install extender software that converts most of your learned signals memory to KeyMove memory. Since KeyMoves are smaller you end up with much greater effective capacity.

For more specific instructions about all of this, you should ask in the JP1 forum. It may help to post your .ir file in the diagnosis area.

Those are some real good points and will look into that.

The new Motorola Cable Box DCT-700 uses the Remote Control Code number 201
This is the number you should use with a Universal Remote Control. This code works on all the older remotes. The ones that only take a three digit code. It worked for me 201.
