I just bought a Viewsonic 27" LCD TV. I am looking for the viewsonic codes for my URC-9960 remote. I don't have the original viewsonic remote so learning commands is not an option. Does anyone have the codes for Viewsonic N2750W LCD TV?

There are no viewsonic codes in the 9960, call on monday and have them load the codes over the phone. Newer remotes have viewsonic codes 0885, 0864, 0857, and 1755.

Thanks a lot for the info. You were mentioning newer remotes have the codes built in. Which newer remotes are you referring to?

Unfortunately for my own Viewsonic N2750W tv, all the codes listed (0885, 0864, 0857, and 1755) do not work. I can use the remote to learn it but it's disappointing to go through all that process.

Nope, those two codes aren't even accepted by the 8820. When you enter them in the remote, there is no double-blink of the power button button which would indicate code acceptance.

Exactly, viewsonic changes the codes so often that universal remote makers have hard time catching up. The DTV remote I posted about has newer upto date library of codes then the 8820.

Well the worst part is how do you update the 8820 if it doesn't even have the modem upgrade? Yeah, I could spend $40 for a jp1.2 interface but seeing how the older series of OneForAll remotes (8810, 8811, 9910) can be updated over the phone, it looks like I'm stuck spending the evening learning mapping and learning every button from my TV remote. :(

Of the older remotes you listed, only the 9910 was phone upgradeable, along with 8910, HT-PRO, and the 9960. Remotes like 8810, 8811, and your 8820 have to be mailed in for an upgrade.

Viewsonic codes are the same as Phillips TV
I was going to return the TV
I took my Motorola remote to Costco to test another brand for my remote

The clerk said he could turn off a Phillips TV with the viewsonic remote
He thought it was a Phillips tuner inside

I got my code book out for the Motorola cable box remote and
viola!!! the first code I tried worked
In fact we tried all the 4 listed Phillips codes and they ALL worked

Let me tell you, I spent a lot of time searching prior to this
I called Viewsonic support, and the were NO help, and were not interested
The codes are 0054 or 1454 or 0690 or 1154
all 4 codes work for my remote

Let me know if this works for you

You might need to experiment a little to get advanced functions working.

There is a family of code sets, used by Phillips and many other brands, where the basic functions (power toggle, digits, CH+-, Vol+-) are the same across all the code sets in the family. But the advanced functions (PIP, Menu, etc.) are different in each code set.

There are some Advent TV's using a code set in that family, where the PIP function in one of the Philips code sets is literally a self destruct command to the Advent (expensive repair required after it gets that command). I doubt that viewsonic did anything that insane.

If you try whatever advanced functions your Viewsonic supports, I think you'll find the four OFA setup codes differ in what commands they send for those buttons, and fairly likely none of them are right for the viewsonic and you whould need to find the right EFC numbers instead.

But for the main topic of this thread: The fact that some Viewsonic model uses a code set in that Phillips family of code sets, does not mean that some other Viewsonic model is likely to do the same.

Hi wally_canuck,

None of these codes worked for me. I am using a Motorola DRC800 remote for my cable box, and trying to program it to operate my Viewsonic N2750w.

Anyone else have any suggestions? It sure would be nice to have one remote ...

I needed to have a remote for my cable and the viewsonic.
the remote that came with the cable box (Time Warner Cable) would not program for the TV
I bought a Sony universal on ebay (once opened) and was able to program the tv and the cable box.
For the TV I used Philips code 011
and used the search feature on the remote for the cable box

All universal remotes are not "Universal"

To do it all over again I would not have bought this tv.

I think the Viewsonic company should learn to be more customer friendly.
