I can't seem to get the PVR functions to work for my HR10. The basic Guide, Info, etc worked fine when I assigned 1142 to the Sat device but when I tried 0618 on the PVR nothing works. I know both device codes are accepted as I get the two blinks.

So, I did some research and tried the Advanced Codes for the PVR device. Everything seems to work during programming and I get the two blinks but then the programmed keys do not function. When I press the newly assigned PVR key the lights flash as if it is sending a signal out the IR port but nothing happens. I've tried all the basic ones like Live TV (121), Pause (219), Record (725), etc. I thought maybe I needed 5 digits (00 in front) per another post but that doesn't work at all as on the fourth digit the remote clears and displays the Home key.

Any suggesstions? All help is greatly appreciated.

Chris

I would clear the device of any advanced codes, for now:

1. press and hold SETUP for two blinks
2. press OTHER
3. enter 9-9-4
4. press PVR
5. press PVR again

Now would try to Re-Mode the PVR to the PVR:

1. press PVR
2. press and hold SETUP for two blinks
3. press MODE
4. press PVR
5. press PVR again
6. press HOME

Now retry code 0618. If that doesn't work, remode the PVR as a SAT, and use code 1142.

Thanks Edmund. I tried all suggestions and still no go. I also tried it on my R10 TIVO upstairs. I'm pretty sure I'm executing the procedures correctly because I get the 2 flashes at the appropriate places.

The only other piece of evidence I can provide is that I can't learn these keys either. When I try I get the one long pulse. The other keys such as Guide and Exit could be learned though.

Any other ideas? Is it possible that this remote just doesn't work with these two models? At least not with the basic Record, Pause, FF, etc buttons.

Thanks again.

I don't know what to tell you. Code PVR 0618 works fine on my 9960. Of course i can't use that code with me havng 5 dtivos in the same room. Code 0618 controls all of them at the same time.

You're pressing the bottom right Icon with PVR on top of it?

Using code 0618, there isn't a command on the POWER key, the INFO doesn't work.

OK, I got it to work. I reset everything to factory default and started over. In that process I re-read the instructions for setting the device and notice the "Hit OK". I must have been forgetting that step. I guess I didn't notice because you get two blinks after typing in the code number AND after hitting OK. So, I must have somehow picked another device for the Sat originally (way back when I first bought it) and then all these subsequent attempts were missing the OK.

I've also learned ( I think) that the Advanced Codes only work once you've picked the corresponding device. I was thinking the code would work for that key regardless of what device you picked. I thought the 3 digit code was what the remote actually sent to the box when, in reality, it must involve some sort of translation into a more complicated code based on the selected device.

Anyway, thanks for the help. Sorry it turned out to be such a simple fix.
