I want to program FEC codes into this RadioShack remote so I can use it to teach another remote (Sony AV-3100). I have the EFC codes but I'm not sure how to program the the 15-2133. I've looked at the remotes instructions and it doesn't indicate how it's done. Can anyone help?

TIA,
Erock

2. press and P for two binks
3. enter 9-9-4
4. tap P for one blink
5. enter 3 digit advanced code

Sorry, is step #2 "press and hold P for two blinks"?

Edmund & Johnsfine,
thank you for your help. It turned out that the RS remote I have is model 15-2142, not the 2133. I tried setting up an EFC code onto a number button following the above procedure and it didn't work. I tried to program the EFC code without first programming a device (samsung TV). When taht didn't work I programmed the TV first and then tried to program the EFC onto a key.
Any ideas?

EFC number are only meaningful within a specific setup code. If you haven't programmed the right setup code first, you won't get any useful results.

Most models use 3 digit EFC numbers. Some models use 5 digit EFC numbers. I never remember which is which. I assume Edmund knows that better.

If the model uses 5 digit EFC numbers then some setup codes take 5 digit EFC numbers that are just 00 in front of the usual 3 digit EFC. Other setup codes need a complex computation (use one of the JP1 programs) to compute the 5 digit value.

Most models use the method with the 994 command that Edmund described. Some LCD models use a different method the key step of which is scrolling to the "KeyMovr" prompt in the menu system. Again I don't recall which models have that sort of LCD.

Thanks johnsfine,
I obtained the discrete codes from Samsung tech support (hex & dec values). The TV set I have is a Sammy HLR 4667W. I have the KM spread from the JP1 forum and input the data accordingly to convert the OBC to the needed EFC. The KM indicates that the EFC I need is 190.

From what you've outlined it looks like I need to first program the RS 15-2142 (this is an inexpensive $10 4-in-1 remote, not an LCD) with the proper TV setup code. I did program the remote using the samsung code of 0060 and the remote worked all TV functions. The remote did come with a few other codes for samsung. Do you think I should try them all? I'm wondering if I'm missing something in programming the RS remote with the EFC?

Any EFC's you have for setup code 0060, to use them in the 2142, you need to add two zeroes to the FRONT of each of them.

TV/0060 is correct. Don't waste your time with any other Setup codes.

Follow Edmund's advice (the extra 00 in front, etc.) on using EFC numbers with that setup code and model.

johnsfine & Edmund,
IT WORKED!!! I can't thank you guys enough. Programming the 2142 first with the 0060 samsung setup code and adding the two zeros before the 3 digit EFC number I had did the trick.
edmund,
How were you able to figure out that the RS 2142 remote I have uses the 5 digit EFC instead of a 3 digit?
Please correct me if I'm mistaken, it seems a 3 digit or 5 digit EFC is used depends on your remote's make & model#. Can I assume that I can use all the EFcs I have using the KM spreadsheet with my 2142 by just adding two zeros before the 3 digit EFC?
Again, thank you. A greatful Erock
