Hi,
I've got three components that ideally I would be able to use one remote on:

Hitachi CT1942 TV
Memorex MVR4041 VCR
DVD function of Sony Playstation 2 Slim

I bought the One-for-All URC 10820, and it so far it seems to do what I need for the VCR/Playstation. My primary problem is that neither of these provide volumn control. This means I need to find a remote that will work for the TV which was built c. 1984. At one point Hitachi did manufacture a remote for this set (The CLU-721, part number 2583521). Of course they are no longer produced, and it's upwards of $60 to buy a replacement at the one place I was able to find them. I really don't want to pay that much just to end up with two seperate remotes. So basically, what I'm intrested in is

A) Is there a way to program my URC 10820 to work with the Hitachi? (I did try the four Hitachi codes that OFA provides - no dice)

B) If not, does anyone know of an alternate solution?

Thanks,
Kris

Almost all Hitachi TV's use basically the same IR signals. Those are in almost all OFA remotes as TV/0145. There are a bunch of other setup codes that are slight variations of that one, that are each in a few OFA models.

I expect at least three (probably all four) of the Hitachi codes you said you tried are that basic code set. So we can conclude your Hitachi TV isn't like most.

The only Hitachi TV I found data on that DOESN'T match all the rest is the CT2647. So there is a good chance that your model matches that one.

The CT2647 uses setup code TV/0151

I have no idea whether the URC10820 includes that setup code.

Many OFA models include it, or you could get any JP1 capable OFA plus a JP1 cable and easily add TV/0151 (there is an upgrade file already posted).

The URC10820 does include it, but unfortunately it doesn't work. :( The other codes I've tried are 0145, 0056, 0016.

Sorry, I didn't make that very clear. None of the keys work for the TV, but I only really care about the volumn. The others would be nice, but I can live without them.

I have 10 year old OFA remote that lists 4 Hitachi Tv codes not in the 10820 manual or remote. This remote only takes 3 digit codes so they are 095, 097, 173, 227. I'll be happy to send it to you, if you're lucky, you can use it to teach the 10820.
