I have a Denon 3801 rcvr that I am trying to program into my 8810. The manual says to use either code 1104 or 1160. They do seem to work to a point. When trying to get some discrete codes I look at the hi-fi remote site. On that site it says Denon is 0004 or 0160. Is there a list of codes for either the 1160.

No, code 1160 doesn't accept advanced codes.

Any idea why there is a difference in the codes listed in the manual and the ones on the hi-fi remote site ? I've never found that to be the case before. I could have sworn I had the advanced codes before, maybe through a different remote or method. I am using the 8810 to program my MX-500 and I'm sure I used to have the adnvaced codes before. Oh well, have sent note to ofa support to see if they have anything, failing that I guess I might try jp1 programming, just don't know anything about that yet.

Where on hifi-remote do you mean?

Data I have from Rob indicate that:

Tuner/0004 is Denon device 12 and does support advanced codes and is not included in the 8810.

Amp/0160 is Denon device 2 and does support advanced codes and is not included in the 8810.

Audio/1104 is a combo of Denon devices 12 and 8 and is included in the 8810, where it doesn't support advanced codes.

Audio/1160 is a combo of Denon devices 2, 12 and 8 and is included in the 8810, where it doesn't support advanced codes.


Sounds right. I haven't looked up details of your Denon device, but most of them need some combo of Denon device 2 and Denon device 12, which can be achieved on older OFA remotes combining 0004 and 0160 with a lot of KeyMoves.

With newer remotes you can get most of that with 1160 and no KeyMoves, but you have no immediate way to get the rest.


Easily solved with a JP1 cable. Otherwise, customer support could add 0004 and 0160 if you convince them you need those and then mail the remote to them.

You can replace the 8810 with 8820, it now has codes 0160 & 0004 on board. But the 8820 takes 5 digit advanced codes, so you'll need to add two zeroes to the front of any EFC found on hifi-remote.com
