I have an Onkyo HTS580 home theater system (its the updated S570), and Im trying to get it to work with my OFA 6131n.

I can get every button I need, but 3 different codes contain everything. 0135 and 1298 have basic functionality, and 0842 has all the extra functionality.

I went through all 255 advanced codes for each of the 3 device codes (which almost gave me a heart attack, cause there are some that kill the amp, and you have to unplug it for a while). I've determined that using 0842 would be perfect, except it doesnt have any volume keys.....

So.... is there a way to program keys using different device codes? Like, program the volume codes from 0135 while keeping everything else I would map from 0842?

I hope this makes sense... I'm new at this stuff, so I don't really know the jargin yet.

You can program another device temporarily as a second AUD device, then keymove the commands you need.

What do you mean as a second audio device? Do you mean use a different function button as an audio device? If so, is that any harder than just hitting CD, for example, and typing in 0135 or 0824?

I mean program the VCR device with aud 0135, like so:

1. press and hold SET for two blinks
2. enter 9-9-2
3. press AUD
4. press VCR

1. press VCR( AUD#2)
2. press and hold SET for two blinks
3. enter 0-1-3-5

To keymove the VOL UP command:

1. press and hold SET for two blinks
2. enter 9-9-4
3. press VCR ( AUD#2)
4. press VOL UP
5. press AUD
6. press VOL UP

Now repeat for VOL DOWN & MUTE or any other command in SETUP code 0135. Once done, then you can restore the VCR to VCR.

1. press and hold SET for two blinks
2. enter 9-9-2
3. press VCR
4. press VCR again.

That would work, but I can't do it that way cause not all the right codes are mapped to buttons in 0842. In fact, hardly any of them are... but most everything is there in advanced codes. I found out how to map advanced codes to buttons that arent mapped to keys already, and I didn't need to use a temporary device button (like VCR).

I had no idea remotes were this crazy... theres an awful lot you can do with them now, and I certainly wont be going to walmart to buy just any old remote next time :)

Then use 0135 as the base, and keymove commands from 0842. Say you want DVd command, EFC 060. Using two devices, VCR 0842, AUD 0135

1. press VCR( AUD #2)
2. press and hold SET for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-4
4. tap SET for one blink
5. enter 0-6-0
6. press AUD
7. pick a key
