Hello..
I tried the learning mode for the volume and mute buttons
in cbl/sat mode for my expressvu 6100. Even though it shows code excepted..it will only work in tv mode ?? Also I can't seem to turn the brightness down or up???/ any ideas ???

If you want the VOL keys to control the TV in the CBL/SAT device, do the following:

1. press and hold SETUP for two blinks
2. press VOL LOCK
3. press TV
4. press HOME

Now the vol keys will control TV vol in ALL devices including AUD, to unlock it in just AUD:

1. press and hold SETUP for two blinks
2. press VOL LOCK
3. press VOL DOWN
4. press AUD device key
5. press HOME to exit

Now the volume control works in all devices....Except cbl/sat..still??
I don't get it??

You said you tried to learn the commands, maybe something did get taught, clear the keys:

1. press and hold SETUP for two blinks
2. press IR DEL
3. press CBL/SAT
4. press VOL UP twice

repeat steps 2-4 for VOL DOWN & MUTE

Yes tried that as well...no luck ??? My expressvu remote
use to work fine on my old TV is sat mode.
I get all other function in cbl/sat...except vol/mute???

One last thing, try keymoving the commands from the TV to the SAT device.

1. press and hold SETUP for two blinks
2. press OTHER
3. enter 9-9-4
4. press TV
5. press VOL UP
6. press CBL/SAT
7. press VOL UP

Repeat for VOL DOWN & MUTE

Got any items on how to turn down the brightness...so I can save on battery power ??... I tried what manual way didn't work...

I find it very sensitive as well.....

Sorry can't help there, my 9960 I can pick up and shake and the display never comes on. Only when I press a key, will it light up. Mine came that way when purchased it off of ebay. It never gets used anyway.
