Just purchased a 9962 and most messages/reviews are for the 9960, just wondering what the differences are. It looks like a battery hog and I'm trying to turn off the sensor.

The 9962 is marketed and sold in Canada for Canadian device models. I assume it has a slightly different code base.

AFAIK, the URC-9960 and URC-9962 are exactly the same remotes with the same code base, they just use different model numbers for the different countries. They also use different model numbers for all the OFAs that get sold at Walmart!

There's now one big difference between the newest version of the 9960 and 9962, the new 9960's take 5-digit advanced codes, where the 9962 and older 9960 take 3 digit.

Great support.... you guys need to be paid:) erhm... while I have your ear, I read something about updating codes with a .wav file. It's not that important... but my Electrohome 8181a DVD code isn't in any list I've checked... web or manual, I hate to use the learn function... I was bad in school.

Just for fun, try putting code 0039 on the VCR device button and see if it will control your Electrohome at all...

OK, I thought it would be worth a try. Apparently the Electrohome products are related to the Runco products, and there was a Runco VCR code, so I thought I'd mention it. If you had a jp1 cable you might be able to analyze the signals and determine whether there was a built in upgrade. Alternately, you could build the upgrade yourself.
