Not sure if I'm in the right forum or not but here goes. I've been searching for new remotes and tend to favor the OFA brands. While searching for some info I ran across the HT Pro 9811. It seems this is either made by the same co. as the OFA or a nice clone. Even the same model # but a diff remote. This one looks like an updated version of the Cinema 7 7800 model which is one of the ones I was thinking of buying. What's confusing though is I found vendors selling it for prices ranging from $7.79 to $40? X10.com had the cheapest price and I noticed there is a forum just for X10. Any correlation?
I tried doing a search but all it brought up was the Pronto series or the MX models or the OFA w/ similar model #. Can anyone shed any light on this for me. It looks like it might be my remote of choice.

thanks as usual for all the help.

The black remote that looks like the cinema 7, that isn't the 9811 you'll get if you purchase it, the 9811 is a clone of the current crop of ofa remotes like 8910 & 9910. Alot of websites are using an old photo. HT-PRO is under UEI brand, which is the parent company of OFA.

see this thread, you'll receive the bottom remote.

We've been discussing this remote over in the JP1 forums too.

Like Edmund said, the black remote that you see that looks like a Cinema 7 is the old version of the HT-Pro (and just FYI, it's actually a re-badged URC-9800 Producer 8). The sites are using the wrong picture, the remote that you would actually get is a re-badged version of the current One For All URC-9910.

The best place to get it is from X10.COM where it's currently just $7.99. If you buy 7 of them, to make you're order over $50, they'll even give you free shipping.

"X10" is the brand name used for certain home automation stuff, which is why there's an X10 forum here.

Well it seems I made my decision a day early. Yesterday I decided to go w/ the OFA 8910, so I drove out of town to the nearest Best Buy and pd $36 for one. Buying online w/ shipping was going to cost more and I figured this way if I needed to I could return it. Now it seems I could have gotten one from x10 and saved $24. Oh well, story of my life. At least I didn't order what I thought was the older Producer model. I think I'll be happy w/ the 8910 and by having it now I'll have a chance to play w/ it while I recuperate from minor surgery on Fri., otherwise I'd order from x10 and return the other to BB.
Thanks for all the help and I'm sure I'll have other questions as I get into the 8910.
