hall, One way to do what you want is to select the device modes as part of your macro. You have 15 steps, so you could program to M!:
CBL/SAT SETUP 00566 Home Theater
This would put you into CBL/SAT mode, enter the EFC, and put you back to Theater mode. Jim

Excellent idea. I will try that and post how it works. Of course, you already know it will and it sure sounds like it will to me. :-)

You know, I don't know if this can be done, but if you can keymove that advanced code to that macro button you would get a much faster response. The macros without extenders are rather slow, and for a replay button you want it to respond quickly.
Does anyone know for sure whether a keymove can be put on a macro button? Not to move the button, but to assign another button to it? I suspect so, but don't have a Kameleon to try it.

Hmmm, I recall reading the manual and it says not to use the M keys for doing something... Hold on (checking the manual, which I have read more than once)... :-)
Okay, that's for "learning" keys. Keymover mentions nothing about using or not using the macro keys.
I'll try this one first, using Keymover, that is. I was tired last night and didn't try re-programming the macro keys.

Doesn't look like you can use the Mx keys for Keymover. Following the steps in the manual, when I choose "M2" for the key to "move", it kicks back to the "Other" screen. It shouldn't do that.... I will try again just to be sure though.

No problem. I am assuming then, because you said it works nicely, that the macro executes fast enough for your purposes. I was thinking that if it took 3 seconds to execute, combined with the two to three it takes to decide you want to watch it again and move your finger to the button, it would almost not be worth it.

Well, it's not executing any faster but it's also not taking three seconds.... :-) I imagine we'll get used to it nonetheless.
The 8-sec-rewind really doesn't get used that often. To be honest, it's used the most when the audio and video get out of sync and a quick backup always fixes it. The other buttons for A, B, and C are used like this:
In the DVR list, "A" shows recorded programs, "B" to show scheduled recordings, and "C" for the "Series Manager". When you stop a recording, "A" is also used to erase or confirm erasing the show, "B" is for "do not erase, save it" or something similar. Finally, I think, if you purchase a PPV, "B" is like a confirmation to "B"uy it or "C" to "C"ancel the purchase.
As you can see, the speed that those keys execute is NOT important.
The keymover idea, though nice, doesn't appear to be an option.
