I just picked up a new remote to operate my home theater setup, and am loving all the abilities of this new remote, except I'm having one small problem. The remote controls the receiver fine using the number pad to select the various inputs for vid1, vid2, tuner, etc. but the only one it doesn't seem capable of selecting is the DVD input...which is also the most important in my setup.
I've changed the receiver to AV1 thus disabling the remote that came with the receiver, but now this one problem is causing a bigger mess because I can't select the DVD input with any of my remotes now.
Does anyone know if there is an advanced option that will allow me to select my DVD input so I can use this one remote to operate all the main features in my HT setup?

If you are using setup code 0158 try advanced code 124 or 191.

Thanks for the info, but I'm not sure how the advanced codes are entered...is it the same way the setup codes are? Choose the device, press and hold set until the led flashes twice and then enter the code?

No,

1. press device key
2. press and hold SET for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-4
4. press SET for one blink
5. enter advanced code
6. pick a key

edmund has given you instructions to program a command to a key if you know it works. To test a command and see if it works:
1. press device key
2. press and RELEASE the SET key
3. enter advanced code
4. as you press the button for the third number of the advanced code, the code will be sent.
If the advanced code works, use the commands edmund gave to assign the code to a key.

You've given him the only two dvd EFC's, so he needed the directions to map them to key, screw testing.

edmund, Eric never confirmed that he was even using one of those setup codes, and rather than have him go through the business of assigning them to a key and then having to default that key back to itself, I simply told him how to test to make sure it worked.

Thanks alot for the suggestions guys, I'll make sure I'm using Sony code 0158 and see if I can get the advanced codes to work tonight. I'm sure excited at the prospect of using the one remote instead of searching for all 4 when I want to watch a DVD!

Thanks a lot guys, I used the codes you recommended and was able to program the DVD function of my receiver to the new remote, and it's working great! You guys are geniuses and my coffee table and I thank you bunches! :)

Can anyone "adapt" those instructions for the 9960 ??

On step 2, do I replace "SET" with "SETUP" ?? I get two blinks.... (there is no "SET" key otherwise). Problem then is the numeric keypad disappears. I can hit "Other" and get the keypad back and enter 9-9-4. After that, it's stuck. Hitting SETUP does nothing....

To map advanced code into the 9960:

1. press and hold SETUP for two blinks
2. press OTHER
3. enter 9-9-4
4. press the DEVICE KEY
5. tap SETUP for one blink
6. enter advanced code
7. pick a key

Where is the "124" and the other adv code found ?? I don't recall which code I picked for the receiver, but it turns it on/off, controls the volume, and now accesses the main Input I need. HD set-top is connected to one of the digital inputs and the DVD to the other, both are "under" the "DVD/LD" input though. It works though, so I don't care. Anyway, I have... oh nevermind, I really never use any of them. If I do later, I know where to ask !

Now to get the Scientific Atlanta 8000HD box fully functioning with it....
