I'm new to this forum. I'm trying to fix my parents remote for them. currently it's not allowing them to program their Hitachi vcr 0042. Does anyone know how to fix this. I don't have the manual. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I've got that far, but it won't let me program anything into the VCR. Any suggestions.

You're trying to get the remote to program the timer on the remote? Does the 2116 control play, stop, power etc. of the hitachi VCR? If it does, so long.

Assuming VCR/0042 is correct then you want to look at Rob's list of advanced codes for VCR/0042 at
[Link: hifi-remote.com]

There are other threads here (such as that "unofficial manual" thread) that tell you how to use KeyMover to bind any of those three digit EFC numbers to keys.

If I'm understanding your request right, you need some functions that are on the original remote that aren't bound to keys by VCR/0042. If the correct EFC numbers for those functions are in that list then I've already answered your question. If the EFC numbers are wrong or missing or I misunderstood the question, ask again with a little more specifics.

I guess my next question is: How do you use advance codes? Would it be listed in the manual for the remote?
