I am at work with my remote. I plan on taking it back to RS in about three hours. I like it (not for eating batteries though) but I am returning it because it is a used remote. I know this because someone has already scribbled notes in the manual while programing the remote. It appears that it has been returned once before.

I have been reading about the humming noise that this thing makes but I must say I can only hear this when I put the remote up to my ear. Some people claim theirs is really loud. Am I lucky to have one that is quiet? If so, should I just keep it even though it is used? Also, my batteries died in about 1.5-2 weeks. I know they suck the juice, but is this excessive?

Thanks for your help

Radio Shack will take almost anything back within 30 days, so it sounds like someone else tried the remote and didn't like it and returned it. I wouldn't return the remote just because of the scribbles, but if you don't like the remote for other reasons, by all means take it back.

All of the Kameleons sucks batteries dry, so your battery useage is not unusual.

Like Rob said, all Kameleons suck juice, but there are fixes posted on this forum to help that, if you are so inclined. Reportedly, battery life has at least doubled as a result of the fixes.
