Good Morning,

I have programed serveral macros and custom codes into my URC-8811. I wanted to know if I remove the batteries completely, will I lose everything I programmed into it?

If I dont lose everything by taking the batteries out, how long can I leave the batteries out of it? Im curious because I might have to send the remote back to the manufacturer for an "upgrade" for a DVD player that I dont have a code for (Apex AD-1225)

Thanks

You can take the batteries out for as long as you like without losing the programming (macros, keymoves, learned signals, VPT, etc.)

BUT, when the manufacturer loads an "upgrade", that process probably does lose all your programming.

If you get a JP1 cable, you can install a better upgrade yourself, and you can start by reading your previous programming from the remote to the PC, so you have it backed up in case of error and so you can merge the upgrade into the previous programming.

Thanks For The Info. I might try to go the JP1 route.

When you send the remote in for an upgrade, there's a good chance you won't get back the same remote.
