It can, and needs to be modified. The easiest way, might be to send it in to UEI for ungrade, it will come back JP1-ably.

Are you sure edmund? I've never seen this remote in person but generally the cheap US models are not JP1-able, though I don't know about the European models. Even if it is JP1-able, the JP1 tools don't support it yet.

Mark, I take it that you have this remote. If so, look in the battery compartment and see if there's a 6-pin connector, if there is it means the remote is JP1 compatible, the only problem is that as we haven't seen it before our tools aren't ready for it yet, but they could be.

If there are just 6 holes, this means there are probably parts missing, but if you're OK with soldering, you can add them (more details if you need them).

Even if there aren't any holes, if you open up the remote and find that there's an EEPROM on board, you could still fashion a JP1 connector of some sort if you wanted.

Cheers Robman
I have just recieved it today.
It doesn't have the pins. It does have a chip but im not to sure if its the right one. How can i tell? This is the perfect remote for the job but im using a xantech ZPR6810 so it needs to be learnable/programable. ergo the Q's.
Thanks for your help.
Mark

If it's a small rectangular chip with 4 pins on each of 2 sides (for a total of 8 pins) and it has a label like 24C08 on it, then it's an EEPROM. Further evidence is that it's usually labelled "U2" on the board.

If this remote does indeed have an EEPROM on board, you should be able to fashion a mod for it to make it JP1-compatible.

It has a big chip with 12 pins on each side and is labeled U1.
Sounds like its not! Handy wee remote though.
Once again, Thanks.

That's the main processor (or MCU). Look around the board to see if you can either find the small EEPROM chip that I described, or maybe a vacant spot labelled U2 (which means you could add an EEPROM yourself).

Theres nothing of the kind. Just a few resisters, the MCU and the buttons. And of course the emmitor!
