I'm interested in the 15-2117 but I've just noticed that there is only a FF and RW.
Most remotes have the fastforward, reverse AND a skip (forward and reverse).
What do most people do with these remotes when they are watching DVD's or even for music (CD's)?
Just curious.
Thanks.

In the case of Dvd's & Cd's you use the channel up & down for tracks & chapters.

Universals have only recently started having seperate |<< and >>| buttons, and like edmund said, the CH +/- buttons have always sufficed for this purpose.
I use a 15-2116 to control a ReplayTV where I need buttons for "Instant Replay" and "Quick Skip" (and ReplayTV also has CH+/- functions, so I can't use those) so I used the two buttons right above REW and FFWD, which are TV/VIDEO and SLEEP.

Another option, which works very well (but is a little bit harder to setup), is to use a special protocol called LKP (Long Key Press). With it, you can have your remote send different commands depending on how long a key is pressed.
To get this to work, you will need a JP1 cable and learn about this wonderful way to enhance your remote. Rob as written a very nice guide which will give you the basics for this solution.
