Hello all,

Recently purchased a Kameleon 8060 and was shocked to find I had gone through 3 sets of batteries in the first month due to the over-sensitivity of the motion sensor.

I contacted OFA and they said it was "by design" but they would disable it for me if I wanted.

Well this morning I decided to take it apart to disable the motion sensor altogether. I unsoldered one end of the switch and the body of it came away from the other end (that was still soldered to the circuit board). Inside were 2 small ball-bearings (as everybody knows). After looking at it in more detail, it became apparent that the metal body of the switch was in constant contact with the bearings, but the other side of the switch had a metal concave connector that was slightly smaller than the switch body and also had a plastic bevel around it to accomodate the metal switch housing.

To me it was obvious that the 2 bearings and the concave connector were too close and the slightest movement would make the connection. So all I did was take out one of the bearings, but the switch body back over the concave connector and solder it back to the board.

And now my 8060 is a lot less sensitive. I can walk round the house, jump up and down, bang the coffee-table with my hand.....and it won't come on. If I pick it up and give it a slight shake, it comes on. Perfect!!!

Hope this helps.

Jon

I emailed them.....eventually! It wasn't easy, even after clicking on "Contact us" on their website, I got taken to various different pages that had nothing to do with contacting them!
