I have changed the mode to AV1 as posted here. Code 1058 does all of the functions I need EXCEPT switching to the DVD function on the audio receiver. This is an important function and I need it. I previously had an URC-6131 using code 1758 and AV2 on the receiver and everything worked perfectly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would try to help you but you said the magic word, JP1. Can't help there.

The 15-2117 is a learning remote, so why not simply learn the function from the original remote?

Using the learning function removes the ability to have the audio volume buttons work on other function keys. They instead map to the original code, not the replaced value of volume +/- that I had the remote learn. Also, I have to assign another key to be the power key, which is obviously just a pain, and something I could live with, but I want the volume to work while I am controlling other functions. Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially a way to move a code from one jp1 remote to another.

Thanks all

The 595 is one of those receiver/remote combinations where you cannot change the remote's command code from AV2. Since the receiver has to be in AV1 to use the 2117's preset code, you cannot learn from the 595 remote, in this case.

if jmorehouse could find any other Sony receiver remote set to AV1, he could learn the DVD command from that remote.

Ron,
Thanks for the idea. I suppose I could use my URC-6131 to load an AV1 code that has the DVD function and then teach that code to my 15-2117. Does anyone know of such a code? Thanks for all the help.

You can load Setup Code 0158 to the Amp button on your 6131, then you can press P briefly, then 1-2-4 and send the DVD command to your 2117, or you can keymove it to a button of your choice.

Here are some more advanced codes you may find useful [Link: hifi-remote.com]

The problem with the 2117, the sony receiver codes don't accept advanced codes. You need to use the sony Tape code 0243 instead,so here's how:

1. press AUX
2. press and hold P
3. press SELECT
4. scroll down to TAPE
5. press SELECT
6. enter 0-2-4-3
7. EXIT

1. press AUX
2. scroll down to KEYMOVER
3. press SELECT
4. press AUX
5. tap P for one blink
6. enter 1-2-4 or if that doesn't work then try 1-9-1
7. press SELECT
8. press AUX
9. pick a key

Now reprogram AUX with 1058.

edmund thanks a lot. Can you just tell me exactly what these commands are having me do? I think I understand, but want to know what I am doing so I can know what to expect.

Thanks all

The first set of instructions are changing the AUX device to TAPE. But only temporarily. The second set is mapping the advanced code to a key. Once done, you can change back from Sony TAPE code to Sony RCVR code, and the advanced code will still be there. The Sony RCVR codes in your 6131 accept advanced codes on their own, where none of the codes in the 2117 do. If you aren't using the AUX device, but instead using the AUDIO device, just substitute that for AUX wherever AUX written in the my instructions.

I tried the sequence of codes you posted and it did not work. However, your sequence was not exact, so I had to make a best guess. So I am guessing that my choices were wrong.

Retry it now with these steps:

1. press AUX
2. press and hold P
3. press SELECT
4. use the DOWN cursor to scroll down to TAPE
5. press SELECT
6. enter 0-2-4-3
*. press SELECT
8. EXIT

1. press AUX
* press and hold P
3. use the DOWN cursor to scroll down to KEYMOVER
4. press SELECT
5. press AUX
6. tap P for one blink
7. enter 1-2-4 or if that doesn't work then try 1-9-1
8. press SELECT
9. press AUX
10. pick a key

If 124 doesn't work, start over from the second set of instructions but enter 191 instead in step 7.
