Well, because of having to get a new TV (my 20 year old 27" Sony finally died) I've had to get back into JP1ing to reengineer how home my home theater works. I found the best price and features for a 30" Direct View HDTV were to be found in a SANYO 30744 TV available at my local WalMart. The Sanyo has 2 component, 2 SVideo, one HDMI, and both analog and digital antenna inputs. But there is only one known discrete code to directly select any of them (component2). It is possible to always select this discrete, then hit INPUT a few times until I've cycled to the input I want. But the added inputs push my macros past the 15 entry limit. And since the TV is a little slow to respond, it often misses some of the successive input commands. I could put in delays, but each one of those uses another step in my macro. So for the moment, I'm very frustrated. The sony had discretes for every input, and as such was delightfully easy to control.

SO, of the other JP1able remotes out there, or various , do any allow longer macros? 25 to 30 steps would be enough. I've considered calling the inputs from another macro (nesting), but would prefer to avoid doing that. After enjoying my "perfectly Customized" 6012 for the last year or two, I was royally confused trying to understand what I'd done when I looked at it's layout again. I'm already up to two layers deep with nested macros right now.

SO you'll know, my current remote is a OFA 6012 with 8k added. I use a Cinema7 to learn codes, look at them with IR, then keymapmaster and IR.EXE to add my newer devices to the 6012.

Thanks,
Dave B.

None of the JP1 remotes allow macros over 15 steps. Most of the extenders allow you to either nest or concatenate macros to get more than 15 steps.

I don't see why you want to avoid nesting.

Thanks, johnsfine. That's what I figured. Trying to figure out my OLD 6012 IR layout, the thing that confused me most was trying to follow my own (forgotten) logic through nested macros. I'd like to avoid nesting macros simply to elimiinate that confusion. I had to update my 6012 as well as my wife's pronto. The pronto let me put every command in sequence, and proved much simpler to update than the 6012 via JP1 has.

What would help with JP1ing would be a way to print out a logic map of any given IR.EXE configuration. As it is, I actually had to THINK for myself and figure it out. Nearly caused a headache. ;-)

Dave, thought you would be back during summer break?:) Anyways, do you know there's a new jp1 forum here?

Hey Dave,
Does this set respond to TV/0154 and how/where did you find the one discrete code that you have? Have you tried testing EFCs looking for the others?

If it does respond to TV/0154 I can see if UEI has a more complete list of EFCs.

Btw, since you were last here, we've created a new forum for JP1 stuff at:

Also, since you were last here we've updated the IR.exe program, it now lets you include notes in your setup, so you can give yourself clues as to what those macros are really for.

Edmund,

Nothing broke or was replaced during the summer, so I didn't have to reprogram either remote (pronto or 6012). The last time I spent any time looking at the Yahoo JP1 forum I did notice Hifi-remote was taking over the job. But thanks for the reminder.

Yes.

Yes, I used my old cinema7 with device code 0154 and enterred every number from 000 to 255. I've posted the working codes I found in the Discrete Hunter forum under a message asking for Sanyo codes. I even found a code to get into the service menu, which normally was only accessible with a power down, then power up while holding the Volume - button down.

If it does respond to TV/0154 I can see if UEI
has a more complete list of EFCs.

Do that. The list at hifi-remote.com is outdated and needs sorting/weeding out.

That's great to know. Is it safe to assume that the notes are only saved with the configuration saved to the hard drive, and not in the remote itself?
