Hi all, I seem to have everything else working except for some reason this remote will not learn the surround modes from my Marantz sr6200 receiver. This is annoying because everything else is fine but I know I will want to use this feature without having to get off of my ass! Can I use some sort of original button code???

There are a number of OFA remotes that are 6 in Ones so if you could provide the URC-???? number that will help get you a more detailed answer. Marantz actually publishes their commands for the SR-6200. The surround modes all appear to use the RC5x protocol. So your problems may stem from:

1. Lack of learning memory,
2. The nature of the RC5x protocol that has a toggle bit,
3. Bad batteries on the OFA or OEM remote, or
4. Something else.

If your URC-???? turn out to be a JP1 remote then you can do a device upgrade since the commands are known. You might even be able to do them as key moves.

I assume these are the ones you are looking for?

RC5x:16.37:00 Dolby
RC5x:16.37:46 DTS
RC5x:16.37:62 Circle Surr
RC5x:16.37:29 Movie
RC5x:16.37:01 Hall
RC5x:16.37:02 Stadium
RC5x:16.37:09 Matrix
RC5x:16.37:51 Virtual
RC5x:16.37:42 Night

OK, the only model with 2133 in it is the "Radio Shack" 15-2133 Kameleon remote, which is not a "glow in the dark" remote, like the "One For All" URC-7800 Cinema 7 remote. So, are you sure you have the right model number?

Yes, that is correct. It is a kameleon 15-2133. Lights up I guess I should have clarified that.

The Marantz A/V recievers typically need 2 setup codes in UEIC (URC and some RS) remotes in order to achieve all functions. With my SR-5300, I need to use the AMP 0189 and 0269 codes. The number buttons usually hold the device selections, and most functions are available with advanced codes (three digit codes that access functions that may not be mapped to a key).

For starters, put code 0269 on the AUD button.
Then try the buttons (all of them) to see what they do. If none of them perform the functions you need, try 0189 and see if any exist.

If you still don't get them, try www.hifi-remote.com. Look under Advanced Code List and click the setup code you are using for a very detailed list of advanced codes.

If all else fails, then someone here may be able to give you the correct advanced codes (EFCs).

Thanks for the help. I think however, that I am going to take this remote back (as cool as it looks) and get something that has more memory and ALL the buttons or at least be able to assign them to some that I will not forget where they are. Something I could label myself would be great....Any suggestions???

You probably need the HTM MX-500, which goes for about $100.

Important with this kind of remote is to setup the proper code, so contacting customer support in order to download Tuner/Amp code 1289 is an option.

If your still not satisfied with this remote and would like to exchance it for a model with more learning memory, please make sure you buy a model that can correctly learn signals with a togglebit.

Actually Audio/0892 that is in your remote has these commands

RC5x:16.37:00 Dolby => num 6
RC5x:16.37:29 Movie => num 8
RC5x:16.37:09 Matrix = >num 9

You could easily get all the others wiuth a JP1 cable
