Hi,
Looking for codes for the following:
Go Video DV-1030 and DVR-4250 DVD/VCR combos. (I believe the same code should work on all GoVideo Combo Units)

I have these: One for All Remotes:
Cinema 7 URC 7800, URC-6131 with JP1 and Radio Shack 15-2133 (OFA) Kameleon 6 Original.

I have tried 0715, 0744, 0783. And code searches on the remotes.

Can anyone suggest any others?

Thanks in Advance.

For the URC-6131 and dv1030a, 0833 works. I also found 1278 works. However, the remote will not toggle between dvd and vcr. I have a question on another forum asking about the toggle problem.

1278 seems to be a combo setup code mainly matching VCR/0278 but with the vol+, vol- and mute signals from TV/0624

If you have some use for those vol signals then you need VCR/1278 because the 6131 doesn't have TV/0624.

Do those vol signals do anything for your DVD/VCR?

I found a JP1 upgrade for a Darwoo DVD/VCR that uses the same codes. The DVD command in that upgrade is EFC number 218 and the VCR command is EFC number 214.

Those EFC numbers won't work in 1278 (because it's a combo setup code). Some new models allow some translation of them that would work, but I don't think the 6131 does.

I think those EFC numbers will work in VCR/0278.

You asked about "toggle" between VCR/DVD. I'm pretty sure there is no toggle command. Rather there are the two commands I described above. VCR/DVD remotes often have one button that seems to send a toggle command. But actually the remote itself remembers the state and sends one of two discrete commands. That keeps the remote in sync with the player. With JP1 you can achieve a UI similar to the original remote if you choose. Without JP1 just assign the VCR command to one button and the DVD command to another.

Excuse me, but I am rather ignorant in this area. Do I understand correctly that I should put in separate codes for the vcr and dvd buttons on my URC-6131a OFA universal remote so that I can control both the dvd and the vcr portions of my Govideo dv1030a combo with it? If this is correct, which code should I use for the dvd button on my remote? Which code should I use for the vcr button on my remote? And, do I program these codes in the same way that I'd program the manufacturer's codes (e.g. press power--press "set"-look for 2 blinks--input 4 digit code, look for 2 blinks)?

Thank you!

I didn't mean for you to use the actual device buttons (VCR and DVD) on the 6131 for that purpose and there isn't a seperate setup code (4 digit number) for VCR vs. DVD for your combo.

I meant that you should pick two other keys (shifted keys if there aren't other easy choices) to hold the VCR and DVD commands within the one device mode you will be using for both.

I also suggested changing from the setup code VCR/1278 to VCR/0278 in order to program those two commands.

I'd rather not retype all the details of testing and/or programming EFC numbers (the 3 digit codes for individual comands) on a 6131. Edmund has given those instructions in many threads. (Rob and I and several others have also given them in a few threads each). Shifted keys are explained in fewer threads, but I'm sure you can find one.

Let's say that you want to use the THUMBS-UP button to select DVD mode and the THUMBS-DOWN button to select VCR mode (you can chose other buttons, but I had to pick something for this example), here's how you would program them. (I am also assuming that you are using the DVD device button for your combo).

First, program the VCR/0278 setup code to the DVD button.

Then, to program the TH+ button to select the DVD...

1) Tap DVD
2) Hold SET, 2 flashes
3) Type 994, 2 flashes
4) Tap SET
5) Type 218
6) Tap TH+, 2 flashes

Then, to program the TH- button to select the VCR...

1) Tap DVD
2) Hold SET, 2 flashes
3) Type 994, 2 flashes
4) Tap SET
5) Type 214
6) Tap TH-, 2 flashes

Finally, re-assign the VCR/1278 setup code back to the DVD button.

Only needed if you found some keys (such as the three vol keys) that work right in VCR/1278 but fail in VCR/0278.

I'm not convinced yet that it will matter to you which of those two setup codes you end up with, or if it matters that VCR/1278 would be better.

If you do find some advantage to VCR/1278 of VCR/0278, please describe it in a reply here (so anyone who searches on the topics of this thread will see a complete answer).

I followed "the Robman's" advice and it worked. Now I can toggle back and forth between dvd and vcr using the reassigned thumbs up and thumbs down keys on my remote! Thank you so much for the walk through. I am a complete novice at this.

After the thumb+ and thumb- setup codes had been reassigned to turn the vcr and dvd on and off, I tried assigning both the 1278 setup code, and then the 0278 setup code, to the dvd button on my remote. Both seemed to work equally well. The thumb+ and thumb- buttons retained their reassigned codes and all remote buttons seem to work correctly with either code assisned to the dvd button.

Once you've programmed a keymove using the procedure that I described, it will remain programmed regardless of which setup code you assign to the device button.

You may be able to do a search for the code, and you must do it with in a limited time, so if your memory is not good like mine write this down and follow all the directions. First turn on the go video, then the device you are using for which would be dvd, then press setup and wait for it to blink twice, then press the # 991 (led blinks twice)and then press prower key, now comes the hard part you must press the Ch+ bottom contiinuosly until the machine goes off. (this is key to change channels). then press setup again when the device goes off, and it should work. Keep pressing because i have programed most of my machine with it least 2-5 min. of pressing. I also know of a code 0810 for my go maching that may work
