I realize that they are basically the same remote in function but which one feels better (the buttons, feel of the remote, button layout...etc).

The 15-2117 is a better looking remote, has a nicer feel and a much brighter backlight, but the URC-9910 has more buttons.

Both of them have the advantage over other OFA/RS remotes in that they both allow macros on the device buttons (when programmed using JP1) even without installing the extender.

If you have trouble finding either of them locally (and I think you will have trouble finding the 15-2117) I have both of them available.

I prefer the 2117 over the 9910, the feel and the button arrangement. The lower three rows of identical keys on the 9910, I just can never remember whats what. And don't like the red backlighting on the 9910 either. If you can get one, go with the 2117.

I was able to pick up 20 of the 15-2117s a couple of weeks ago and I'm down to about 10 now.

Just hangin' in Mexico. Wishin' I had more toys. Can you believe, I have not even seen a widescreen or a hi-def TV set here? Let alone any interesting remotes. Although I did notice today that the standard RCA universal remote has been outsourced to somewhere even cheaper, because the new labelling and buttons look just awful and chintzy.

Yep, I am here permanento. Lots of reasons, none of which I want to delve into publicly. I do see a number of remotes in the outdoor markets; most are fairly old satellite remotes or RCAs, or Sonys. The newest ones at WalMart (yep, big WalMarts in Mexico) are simply the newer ubiquitous RCAs: the silver ones with the pink and blue buttons, hour-glass shaped, that they have been selling for years. Only now they look and feel much cheaper. Home Theater is not a big deal around here, so there is not a lot of requirement for URs. We get satellite or Mexican cable, none of it is 5.1 or HD.

The stereo and TV stores are way behind the times, in Guadalajara, and I've never found anything interesting there. Although, I was able to replace my stolen Canon Digital Rebel at one of the chain camera stores. Sadly, though, it cost 50% more than it would've in the States.

I just came back from the US with 2 URC-9910's.
Made a JP1 cable Saturday and started playing.
I'm trying to get complete codes for my Lexicon CP-1+ and CP-3. I found some of them in a different format at www.premisesystems.com which I will put in my Palm with OmniRemote and then learn with the 9910's.
Then converting to upgrades. Lots to learn about programming with JP1.
If you want to get a Wide screen through Aduana I can tell you how to do it with ease.
I brought back 6K worth of items and paid $70 in duties.

Does the URC9910 have rf capability? If so, would it be compatible with the 15-1995 extender? If not what other remotes are rf compatible?? help? on another article tob mention the rf puck inside of the remote, can these be picked up elsewhere, and be used for other remotes?

Yes 9910 is RF and comes with Rf extender. And yes it is compatible with 1995 extender.
