I have a rather old Sharp Linytron that was made in the late 80's, model #25NC158. I salvaged it from some relatives that had it sitting in storage for some time. The problem is that I do not have a remote and can't seem to find a code that works for the television. I have a One For All remote, model 4021. Does anyone happen to know the code for the television or a good web site that I may go to in order to find a list of codes that might work?

That model probably uses One for All set up code 0165. Bad news is that I don't believe the TV165 code is in the 4021. You are most likely to find TV code in a Radio Shack branded remote control model like the 15-2103 (but check the manual on-line before you buy), or alternatively get an upgradeable One-for-All and have that code loaded in into it over the phone.

I'm currious what your basis is for that statement.

There is an upgrade in the JP1 group for "Sharp Old Linytron TV" that matches TV/0165, which tells me some Sharp Linytron used that setup code. I don't know if there were multiple Sharp Linytron TV models. If you have an independent (not JP1) reason to say that's the right setup code, that gives some extra confidence.

The urc-6131 has TV/0165. The Radioshack 15-2117 has it and if you can find an RS that still has it, that's quite a bargain at the close out price.

Several other models have it, but most of those are either discontinued long ago, or not good value for the money. I'd include the 15-2103 as not particularly good value, though I'm not sure what price it goes for these days.

You might check Rob's list of remotes for sale. If you want any JP1 capable remote (such as my favorite, the 8811) that doesn't include TV/0165, and get it from Rob, I expect he would add TV/0165 for you before shipping if you ask when ordering.

Let's just say that it is NOT based on info from the JP1 files, but rather an educated guess based on the model number.

The Radio Shack 15-2103 sells for under $10. If all you need is a simple replacement for a lost/broken TV remote, it is not that bad. I agree that there are many more capable units out there for those who want to do more.

I didn't realize the price was that low. At that price I agree with what you've said about the 15-2103 (though personally I would want a more capable universal remote).

Try Code 0111.

Thanks for the info, Dragun, but olorin69 probably gave up looking for that code about 5 years ago. Besides, 0111 is a sony code, probably not used by that sharp.
