I do not know a lot about universal remotes at all. Basically, I lost the remote to my Mitsubishi SL1U projector and am trying to find the best *value* solution to being able to control it with a universal remote. I do have access to an identical SL1U remote and so I was hoping to be able to use it in conjunction with the 15-2116's learning capabilities, however that works. Is this fairly simple to make happen or am I screwed up here in my thinking? Thanks.

The 15-2116 is a learning remote; however, it has capacity for roughly 25 learned commands in all modes. There *may* be a built-in setup code that will operate the TV, and you may just have to learn a "few" of the more obscure functions *if* they're missing. There's nothing wrong with your thinking, especially since you have access to an oem remote.

I actually am having trouble finding an OEM remote. Does anyone know how I could get the codes for the Mits SL1U projector. I searched the mitsubishi website and couldn't find anything. I also checked the RS website which was about useless.

Thanks!

I didn't find any data on the SL1U. I found data on a few other Mitsubishi projectors. All but one of them use the standard setup code for Mitsubishi TV's, which is TV/0150.

John:

Thanks for taking the time to locate some codes. Unfortunately, that particular code did not work. May I ask where you located those codes? Perhaps I can try some others there. Also, is it typical that a projector would use a TV code or are there often separate digital projector codes?

Thanks again

Did you try the MITS preset codes with the projector on already? Most people run into trouble turning their projectors on with universal remotes.

I managed to get ahold of an OEM remote and programmed my RS remote. I also downloaded a remote control program for my pocket pc and saved the data in that program. If anyone needs the data respond to the thread in the future and I'll send them.

If you're willing to invest a further $14 into this project, you could buy a JP1 cable and dump the memory from your 15-2116. This would provide the info needed to build an upgrade for the 15-2116 which would control the projector, which you can archive on your PC and also share with the rest of the world. This would be useful for the future in case you were to accidentally erase your learned signals. A JP1 cable would also allow you to do many other things with your 15-2116, including giving you the ability to program macros to the device buttons, should you so desire.

You can get a JP1 cable starting at $14 from:
