I found some Home Producer 8 remote on sale on ebay. There model # is URC-8090B02. I just wonder it is same as A/V producer 8 which most people in this forum talking about.

The "Home Producer" features an RF to IR basestation that allows you to use the remote through walls. The "A/V Producer" does not.

The model number you reference indicates that remote does NOT feature learning capabilities.

Thank you for your response. How do I know if it is learning capable or not? Do you know the model # for it? If it is learning capable home producer, $30 is good deal? Sorry for too many question.

The learning Producer 8 models have "Learning" printed on the box, prominently. The learning remote has 6 extra round buttons along the left, numbered: 1L, 2L, 3L, 4L, 5L and 6L. Unfortunately, those are the only buttons that can be learned on. The learning remote models are URC-8800 (the IR-only model) and URC-9800 (the IR/RF model).

Can the URC-8800/9800 be programmed with macros or advanced codes on the non-learning keys like the C6/C7 can?

Yes, but the keystroke sequence for Advanced Codes is quite lengthy. See the "Magic Key / Advanced Codes for URC-8800/9800" thread.

The remotes have two macro keys, "MACRO" and "MACRO2". I've read in another thread that you can also record macros on just about any of the keys (except, perhaps, the learning buttons). Haven't tried it myself.

Yes... unlike the learning function, macros can be placed on almost all keys.

Do the Producer8 remotes use the same device and advanced codes as the Cinema7 family, or different ones?

Same codes as the 7.

Oh yeah, does the Producer8 family have more macro/code memory than the Cinemas?
