Does anybody know any of the advanced codes for the Marantz SR-7000 receiver?

Are you telling me the RC1200 is no good and you are using a One For All remote?

The RC1200 is a great remote. But since you must use the remote to access the setup, etc. I'm afraid of using the RC1200 and have it wear down or just become non-functional. There is no way you can use all the features or access the setup from the front panel of the receiver. Just trying to avoid an expensive repair/replacement. By the way, the Cinema 7 works great on the Marantz 7000. Use the code in the manual for Marantz amplifiers and not their receivers. But only some of the basic functions work.

Steve,

What code did you use for the SR-7000?

I have a URC-8080 (AV Producer 8) and have had a devil of a time getting it to work with the SR-5000. It seems to do the same with a SR-7000. (Code 269)

Specifically, power, mute, and volume all work as they should, but you can't switch the input device with it (and I don't call that a basic function!).

OneForAll has a kludge for "189/269 devices" that really is unusable for the 5000/7000, IMHO, last I checked with them. It won't even switch to all your possible inputs. I still have to use the remote that came with it, which is functional, but not nearly as nice as the Producer-8...

Can you send me the ADV codes for 0189? or at least dirct to me a site that has 'em posted? Apparently, this is the only way to go 189/269

I have the adv codes for 0269, but not 0189, on my site.

I've made my table of advanced codes for 0189. I'll submit them to your site. Still didn't find the source input commands, other than tuner.

Way to go, HJ. Send 'em my way so everybody can see them.

Thanks,
Rob.

Emailed my preliminary table to you. So far, looks like device code 0189 gives you the benefit of tone controls (treble, bass), more tuner controls, s-direct, and sleep. All the other functions are the same as what device code 0269 gives you for the Marantz sr 7000/8000.

Finally gave up and "learned" the source input signals.

Well, that bites. I just got the RS remote for father's day and was looking for the advanced codes to change the sources. For my own information, can somebody explain why those aren't in the advanced codes? I mean, the remote that came with it can send them. Are some signals not represented by advanced codes?

Doug,
When a manufacturer puts together a remote for a certain piece of equipment, they often try to build in an amount of "backward compatibilty", so the signals sent out by your original remote often come from more than one actual device code.

[Background info: the infrared signal emitted by your remote carries a device code and a command code. If the signal is in a style that your device recognizes (ie, same frequency for example) then the device will check to see if it recognizes the device code, and if it does, it will perform the function programmed for the command number given]

What your UEIC remote does is synthezise all 256 commands that exist within a device code. If your original remote uses more than one device code, then the advanced codes for the additional functions will exist under a different device code within your UEIC remote, assuming that is, that the additional device code is actually programmed in the UEIC remote, it might not be.

For example, most of the functions on my Kenwood receiver can be created using the CD/0028 device code, but there are three buttons that come from device code 0314, which isn't on my Radio Shack remote (it is on the Cinema 7), so I have to learn those three buttons.

Hope that helps clarify a little.
Rob.

Rob,

Thanks a lot. So, basically the receiver recognizes the advanced codes for more than one device code, but the remote will only send advanced codes from one (for the device). Theoretically, then, if I could find the device code that contains the advanced codes I'm interested in, and the remote can deal with that device code, then I could program one of the device buttons on the remote to handle that code set. I could also, then, use the remote function to copy from one button to another to copy the "select source" codes from that device to the one I use for my receiver. Is that possible or am I completely nuts?

Thanks,
Doug
PS. Rob, your site was very informative.
