Any help?
Historic Forum Post
I need a lamp module or dimmer that I can control with my Cinema 6. So far everything I've found is X10 or RF. The manual says it controls IR home automation but I have yet to find anybody that sells IR home automation. I really would like to be able to control the lights in my home theater with my remote, even a simple plug in lamp module would be OK. Please help if possible, Thanks.

Home automation will require this as a minimum to work with your Cinema6...

- An IR to X10 transceiver, known as an IR543 or 4040.
- Any X-10 Lamp Module. They're available for as low as $5 each from www.x10.com.
- your Cinema6 CD device set up with device code 0167.

This sounds more complicated than you want, but trust me. The IR543 can be placed near your TV or wherever you are usually pointing the remote. The Lamp module can be anywhere even out-of-sight and will still respond to the remote's commands. IR543's can be found for between $20-$40. With the cost of the X10 lamp module you will likely have spent less than the cost of one propriatary IR lamp module. Once you have the IR543 you can add up to 15 more devices, including wall switches, outlets, and more lamp or appliance modules and control the ALL with your one Cinema6.

For a cheaper & simpler alternative to X10, you can get a IR dimmer for $27.95 from smarthome:

Hmmm... with IR543s going for $20 and the lamp modules going for $5, you'll beat $28 and still not have to be pointing your remote at the lamp dimmer.

And the next lamp dimmer will cost $5 too, instead of another $28. You do the math.
