You would get better answers to JP-1 questions in the JP1 forums.

Almost any JP1 remote can be upgraded with that txt file to support all the functions of the GTP-500 original remote.

The best source for a JP1 remote and cable is Rob:
[Link: hifi-remote.com]

Usually he is willing to preload an upgrade if you request that at the time you order the remote, so you could get remote and JP1 cable and be able to use the remote for your GTP-500 even before you learn to customize it by JP1. You could even skip buying the cable if Rob loads the upgrade, but I wouldn't advise it. Being able to customize that upgrade (or others) later is well worth the cost of the cable.

To use that .txt file you need EITHER the KM spreadsheet plus Microsoft Excel OR the RM program plus Sun Java (Sun Java is a free download). After reading the txt file with one of those programs, you need IR.exe to integrate the upgrade with an eeprom image for your remote and to transfer it to the remote.

All the software except Excel is available for free download.

From the cross-post in the Remotes forum:

What problems did you have with my site?

It's unlikely that a universal remote will have
the Adcom codes pre-loaded as the codes are not
in most OFA remotes. If you don't want to bother
learning how to use JP1 just to load this one
code, I could pre-load the code into a remote
for you.

You can chose from any of the JP1 remotes listed
in my "for sale" thread.

If you don't know how to order from me, all you
have to do is send me the money via Paypal and
mention in the notes section of the transaction
which remote you are ordering and which code you
want loaded.

Also, just FYI, the GTP500 and GTP500II use different
codes.
Rob.

Adcom sells a solution.  If that is too expensive, get an Atlas 1056B01 (not a B03) from eBay and we'll tell you how to enter in 5 digit codes for each function.  A Vizio VUR8 (eBay)  will also work.  Make sure that you haven't confused the GTYP-500 and the GTP-500II.  They use different codes, but the two remotes recommended here will send either IR signal.

That Adcom remote appears to be an ordinary URC WR7, $25 most places.

But, probably preloaded with the commands from the Adcom. Which $25 WR7 doesn't have.

I bought a used URC WR7 from ebay, and used their ADCOM codes from the instructions. The Pre-Amp will power on and the volume works. Thank you for your suggestions.

Yes, $50 is steep to pay for the codes that are already listed in the universal remote instructions. Thanks for your assistance. I bought a used URC WR7 from ebay. The code that powers on and off / controls volume is: 225 under Audio three digit set-up instructions.
