wondered if anyone is using NiMH batteries with their radio shack 15-2133 kameleon. it seems alkalines only last 1 month, making the manufacturer's claim of 3-12 months pretty ludicrous. NiMH would seem to be a decent option but i'm guessing you would have to switch them out every 2 weeks! sounds like a huge hassle especially with the battery panel requiring a screwdriver.

also one more question, how does the remote work for just flipping channels? after the backlight goes out you can no longer see the keys, so do you have to put the control down and then pick it up to start using it again? or is there a wake up button you press?

the remote has a touch (motion) sensitive sensor built in to activate the remotes backlighting. I found this to be very sensitive and annoying when watching movies. The bass from my sub would make it light up through out the movie. I tried NIHM's in mine, but little difference in lenghth of battery life.
