I received email about advanced codes for StarChoice device 0869. What is a bi-data signal, and is there any way to figure out how to use the advanced codes?

Here is the email from OFA...

Programming has informed me that the Star Choice unit operates on a Bi-data signal and there are no advanced codes available for it. Learning commands from original is only way to get missing features.
