I was playing around with programming macros onto a button other than macro or macro2. It works, but now my TV 3 button is a macro. How do I clear the macro off of this button? Thanks for your help (the OFA site is down)

Sorry, TBone.

I don't own or have access to a 9800. On the lower numbered 7800 and 6800 you can get a key's original functionality back by using the 994 sequence:

Press DEVICE (TV in your case) where you want the key programmed (or unprogrammed) into.
Press and hold SETUP until you see two LED blinks.
Enter 994.
Press the 3 button.
Press the 3 button again. You should see two blinks if it worked.

Of course, if your 9800 programs differently but still uses the 994 step, then just use whatever part of the above sequence fits.

This will only revive your TV 3 key in ONE DEVICE. If on the 9800 macros work in all devices, then it will still be a macro in the others. You can use the same sequence in every other device too.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure if there are any signifcant programming differences
between the 9800 and the popular 7800, but the a/v Producer 8 (8800)
is functionally quite similar in its programming to the Cinema's,
so I think the instructions are likely to be the same. What I am sure
of however, is that the instructions that David gave you won't work.
Those apply to clearing out keys programmed with the 994 sequence (ie.
EFC-code keys). So if it is indeed macros you have been playing around
with, try this sequence on your "3" button (and don't forget to let
people know if it works on your model...):

[SETUP**] 995 [macrokey] [SETUP**]

(macrokey=3 in your case, 2 stars means you hold down the button
til it blinks)

After playing around a little more, the following sequence appears to clear out macros assigned to keys other than macro or macro2 on the 8800:

Hold Setup until "timed seq" appears
Tap menu- cursor key until "configure" appears
Tap Select
Tap menu- cursor key until "key macro" appears
Tap Select (Sel Mackey) is displayed
Tap key that macro is assigned to
Tap Select key
Tap Esc key

I'd be grateful if someone else could verify this by creating a macro and applying the above sequence. If it works, let's add it to the established body of knowledge on these remotes. Thanks for everyone's help!
