I have a Denon AVR-3200 receiver and found references to using the 0004 device code to be able to assign keys missing when using the 0160 code. I tried it on my RS 15-2104 and it didn't seem to work. None of the buttons seemed to do anything, and it wouldn't accept any of the listed advance codes. Has anyone else had luck using the 0004 code with the 15-2104?

I looked at several non UEI sources for signals matching UEI code RCVR/0160.

0160 seems to be a code for Denon tuner functions and 0004 seems to be a code for Denon amplifier functions. Many Denon devices, including the AVR-3300 receiver, combine those two sets of functions. I didn't find specific reference to the AVR-3200, but I assume it's the same.

I don't have any Denon device, but I can confirm that setup code 0004 on the 15-2104 is the Denon amplifier code matching the signals I see in decodes from the AVR-3300 etc.

I expect you made some operator error in testing advanced codes in setup code 0004 and it would work if you tested them correctly. The defined buttons in that setup code seem to match some other Denon devices, such as the PRA1500 Amplifier, but don't seem to match the functions of the amplifier that is part of the AVR-3300 and other devices using setup code 0160, so you probably need to do any 0004 functions using advanced codes.

Where did you get the advanced codes list for 0004? Maybe that list is also for devices such as the PRA1500 rather than for the devices that also use setup code 0160.

Here are a few of the advanced codes that should work:
054 vol+
056 vol-
058 mute
248 power off
246 power on

Thanks much for the detailed info. I got the advance codes for 0004 from the OFA Cinema 7 FAQ at hifi-remote.com. The codes you list do indeed work, but they are under the 0160 setup code. A couple of the codes I tried when under the 0004 code that didn't work were 043 for OUTPUT and 213 for DIMMER.

I've got a JP1 cable coming soon, so I hope to dig more into this via the IR program, as well.

I can't rule out error on my part, but I did try going through the process twice, with no joy both times.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Oops. I reversed the two setup codes halfway through my investigation. You're right that the EFCs I gave you were for 0160.

I don't see 'OUTPUT' or 'DIMMER' in the AVR-3300 samples. I don't see EFC 043 in any of my moderate size library of samples for those Denon devices. I do see EFC 213 as 'dimmer' (with setup code 0004) for several other Denon models.

Here are a few of the 0004 advanced codes for the AVR-3300 (now that I no longer have 0160 and 0004 reversed).

041 Input mode
214 Tuning+
216 Tuning-
085 Band
132 Home THX Cinema

1) JP1 will make that much simpler.

2) There was a ccf file for the AVR-3200 that I missed on first look. It is at

if you want to check for yourself. The ccf2efc program in the JP1-KM group can be used to decode it.

Here are a few of its decodes for setup code 0004:

"A/D" "Denon A/D" (Denon):12:182 EFC=041
"Dimmer" "Denon Dimmer" (Denon):12:223 EFC=213
"Audio IN" "Denon25-212" (Denon):12:172 EFC=107
"H/P out" "Denon Output" (Denon):12:165 EFC=231

Thanks much for the great data. Can't wait to get my JP1 stuff going so I can poke into the guts of the remote.

My turn to say Ooops! The 0004 code for OUTPUT is listed as 023 on the OFA FAQ, though it is also listed as the code for keypad 5. Hmmm. I have "learned" the button from my original remote, so, if I'm following the FAQ info I've read, I should be able to use JP1 to see what the code really is. Just too cool...

Apparently the following codes also work with Denon amps for the 0004:

004 0db volume
007 -20db volume
009 -40db volume

However, I tried this on my 15-2104 with no such luck on my Denon 2802. Maybe they only work on the new Denon's (the poster indicated he used it on his 3803). That sucks since these would be great codes.

I noticed as well that none of the buttons on the 15-2104 seem to do anything on my Denon 2802 when I use the 0004 code. Only the 0160 code. The 0004 code isn't even listed in the manual for the remote, but most work since the remote recognizes the code??

Regards,

PBC

I have a Denon 1803 and 0004 doesn't seem to work for me at all. 0160 appears to have a lot of matching functions on my 15-2104 but none of the advanced codes work corrcetly, most of them do somthing, but not as advertised, which leads me to believe 0160 is not really the right code.
It is very hard to find the right code for this unit because it never seem to respond to the standard power off used during scans. So you have to program each possible code, then go try the volume or somthing.

Anyone have any more info, I could rally use so more dicrete codes for this unit.

nigelr,

Try these (use the ones in the "EFC" column). Between these (using a RS 2116) and the learning function, I was able to set up a MX-500 remote. They worked well for me.
