Well I originally had a urc-8017 and I could not get it to select the DVD or SATELITE sources for my RCA rt2350 surround system (code 1254). I sent e-mails to the oneforall people for over 3 weeks with not good results. One of the techs suggested I upgrade to urc8911 so I did. With the same results. I can control my volume and I can turn the rcvr on and off. I can select CD/VCR/Tuner but not the DVD or the SATELITE. Can anyone help?
Thanks

Thanks Edmund.
This is exactly what I was looking for, except with the urc-8911 How do I enter the advance code? If I hit the setup key it displays code setup on the screen and if I enter 994 it says invalid? Any suggestions?

Thanks

It's documented for the 2116 in message 81 of this thread:

I think the 8910 is just like the 2116 except the "P" key is labeled "Set".
Note the difference between a short and long press of "Set".

It's been discussed here several times (if that message 81 dosn't give you all you need). Any place 'KEYMOVER' and 'SYNT' appear in the same place is a discussion of this.

Try this;

1. Hold Setup
2. Scroll down to Keymover
3. select
4. DVD
5. Hit Setup
6. Enter 483
7. select
8. RCVR
9. Pick a key, success.

Do the same for SAT.

Ah...success..Thanks folks...now just to I just have to see if I can play around with things and get them working exactly as I would like. I have it set so when I press SAT and power my rca receiver comes on and is set to SAT input. Unfortunately it is my cable box that I really need to turn on and have the receiver set the input to sat and hopefully I can figure this out now that you have given me a gentle push..

Thanks again

Hi folks,

Edmund I tried something simlar to what you indicated in post [Link: remotecentral.com]

I remapped my CBL button as a SAT 392 button.
I then keymoved synt 483 to the number 4.
I then remapped the CBL button back to CBL 476 (GI cable) but when I press the cbl button it does not turn on the reciever with a SAT input selected.

Wehn I set the #5 on the keypad to the DVD synth 483 I click on DVD and press power and the DVD and the RECEiver turn on with the receiver set to DVD input. I must be doing something wrong. I am seriously considering the JP1 cable and IR program as it seems to be able to do quite a bit. Just in case I can't get what I am trying to do to work.

Thanks alot for all your help.

With that link, you either have the link wrong or talking to John. Your RCA receiver uses the Power commands of other RCA products to trigger inputs, it won't recognize the power of non-RCA gear. Yes can probably do what you want to do, with a macro.

Thanks Edmund,

The link is correct there is a small section where someone indicates they should remap the tap device and then change it back. That is what I attempted to do. Map my cbl button to look like a 392 Sat (RCA) device and then code in the 483 code to the number 5 key. Then map my cbl back to a GI CBL and then it should remember what it was? Did I miss something?

Okay, you change Cbl to Sat, map 483 to #5 button of Sat device, then change back Sat to Cbl, should the EFC 483 still be there , yes. Does it change the input of your audio receiver, that I don't know. It probably doesn't change your cbl box to Ch 5,and if you had a RCA sat, it'll turn it ON. What happens when you change cbl to sat0392, then point remote at the audio receiver and press power? Does it change the input to SAT. Just mapping EFC 483 under sat or cbl will have the same effect.

I found my confusion. Okay. I mapped the 483 code to Key #5 under the SAT mode. So now if I set the device to RCVR and press the #5 the receiver turns on and the input is SAT. I guess I was thinking that I could set the CBL button itself like a macro so it would turn on my cable box and the RCVR and switch the input to sat and then be in CABLE box mode so my number keys work correctly. Now that that the fog has cleared I have programmed a macro key to do this. Am I correct in stating that if I had the JP1 pgm and cable I could map the CBL key to do this instead of a macro key?

I appreciate all the help you have been given me. This is great. The remote people should use this site before they give the customers bogus answers. How do you know so much about these remotes? Is it a hobby?

Right. Almost all keys, including the CBL key, will execute a macro if one is defined for that key. Most keys, more than just "macro" keys, but not including the CBL key will let you define macros on them.

JP1 lets you skip the normal method of defining macros and set up macros for the 8910 on the PC without many restrictions that are in the macro definition process rather than the macro execution process.
