I have seen some posts out there on how people cannot get their Radio Shack remotes to "learn" the HK AVR Receivers, I was about to buy a JP1 remote but I was persistent and I did get the 15-2103 to learn the On and Off switchs, plus the mode changes Video1, Video2, etc. I noticed if you have already programmed a button, you actually have to erase the previous code before you can program a new one over it. I am not sure if you need to if there is a preprogrammed code over it or not. This also might have had to do with the available memory in my remote, I may have been at the limit of buttons I could program, but erasing the button first and then programming the button worked much better than trying to just program the button without erasing. I have been able to program mute, power, and mode changes, all on the DVD buttons at the top of the remote. It is not as intuitive as the JP1 remotes could be programmed to be, but I am saving $30 and probably many hours learning and programming the remote the JP1 method, and thats ok with me.

I have all 4 devices RCA TV, Toshiba DVD, RCA VCR, and the HK AVR 125 all programmed on this remote. Everything but the AVR worked with the universal codes, and now the AVR is working flawlessly too! I even programmed the TV volume key and the mute key to command the AVR so that the Volume Lock will control the AVR instead of the TV since I use the AVR for all my sound needs like volume and surround sound. Volume lock is a feature that makes it so no matter which device you have selected on the remote, the volume and mute keys always control the TV or in my case the AVR (since I programmed just those keys that way). I hate having to switch devices everytime I want to change the volume or mute. I LOVE this feature!! The rest of the TV features work fine too since I only programmed the volume and the mute keys this way.

Just thought I would share with you guys if anyone is having the same problems. Enjoy!
