I am having a problem with the One For All URC-9910 that I bought at the suggestion from this forum. I have the following components in a nearby closet:

DishNetwork PVR 501.
Onkyo Receiver
JVC DVD player
JVC VCR
pioneer cd player

Panasonic 42" Plasma TV.

The remote controls everything reliably except for the dishnetwork pvr 501 unit. Sometimes it works fine other times nothing happens and still other times when I press a button on the remote it acts as though I am pressing it several times in a row. The remote controlled the dishnetwork 501 fine before I put it in the closet and used the converter.

I have moved the ir/rf converter and the additional IR cord-thing around numerous times, but with no significant change.

Any suggestions on what is wrong or how I can fix this?

The following is excerpted from the OFA site manual for the 9800, but I am sure it also applies to the 9910. Since the Dish PVR501 is always receiving both IR and RF signals, this could be the cause of your problem (IMHO). If this is the cause, maybe covering the IR window on the Dish receiver and letting the RF do the work may solve the problem.
NOTE:The Home Producer 8 transmits both an IR and an RF signal simultaneously. If you are in the same room as your equipment, unplug the Command Center so your equipment is not receiving two signals (from the remote and the box) which would make for erratic operation.

Ron, the 9800 and 9910 only communicates RF-ly with their own basestations. They only control IR controlled equipment,

edmund, thanks for the clarification. It took me about 20 minutes and several drafts (writing, not beer) to finally understand what the manual meant, which is that if you are in the same room, then your equipment could receive a signal from the remote directly (IR) and the same signal from the basestation (also IR). Since the writer says his equipment is in a closet, it is probably not likely he is receiving both signals. Oh well, I tried. It will be interesting to find out what is really causing the problem.

I'm at a loss at what to try next. When I first got the remote, I had all of the components sitting on the floor until I could run the wires through the wall. I didn't use the basestation, just the remote and everything worked perfectly. What's confusing is that the reciever, dvd, vcr and cd player all work perfectly, its just the pvr501 that acts funny. I also checked the pvr501 using the original platinum remote that came with it and it worked fine.

My ReplayTV 4050 does the same thing when I control it with my URC9800, Its something I've just gotten used to working around.
