Hi,

I have a 15-2117. I'm using the learning functionality to program a JVC system, for which I don't have any codes (yet at least). I'd like to be able to program the Power button, mostly for my wife's sake since she's not into weird mappings. Anyone know why the Power button can't be programmed/learned? Seems like it would be since it's really a "secondary" button (i.e. it's mapping depends on the mode buttons, which are primary, along with the program and exit buttons).

Also could the Power button be programmed using JP1?

Why? That's just the way it is, you'd need to talk to someone at UEI to explain the thinking behind that decision, but needless to say you won't find many of us here that agree with it.

As to the JP1 part of your question, absolutely! You can do almost anything with JP1.

I HAVE PURCHASED RADIO SHACK 15-2117. THIS REMOTE WORKS GREAT. BUT I HAVE SOME ISSUES. I HAD TO LEARN ALL CONTROLS FOR MY NEW SAMSUNG SIR-TS160. THEN IT DOSNT CONTROLL ALL OF MY INPUT FUNCTIONS ON MY SONY RECEIVER.WHEN I TRIED TO LEARN THE SONY FUNCTIONS IT RAN OUT OF MEMORY. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANY ONE WILL PROGRAM THIS REMOTE PROPERLY. I AM WILLING TO PAY.

4492011, the 2117 has plenty of memory to do what you are asking but you need to program it via jp1 remote -- it will run out of memory if you try to learn all the keys one by one. I'm not sure you'll find someone who will do it for you, but if you build (or buy for about $15) a jp1 cable it is very straightforward to program it yourself. There are sponsors on this site that will sell you a completed jp1 cable.
