I have a Pioneer NS-DV77 Home Theater and a OFA URC-8811 remote control. I could not get the remote to control this system using any of the built-in device codes (1023 among others). I then saw MarkEagles custom upgrade file for his Pioneer HTD-510DV in the JP1 forums and it worked for my system too - thanks Mark!

But I have one question:
How can I find discrete codes to select the different video inputs on the system - instead of switching through them (video 1, 2, 3) using one button.

I have tried a lot of EFC's/byte2 combinations using the KM worksheet and Marks upgrade file, but I have not been able to find any discreet input select.

What you need is AMP0013, that's where you'll find discrete inputs EFC's.

Unfortunately it didn't work - the AMP0013 can't control the system and the extended EFC's did not work either :-(

Do you have an original HT remote? What is the model number of it? I may get a remote from the similar HT system on Friday and grab some codes.

The original remote is called AXD7305.
I already have the original codes programmed into my URC-8811 (all the buttons on the original remote) thanks to the combination of MarkEagles upgrade files and a JP1 cable.

What I am missing are the discrete input selects (not present on the remote).

As I (think I) understand from the JP1 forums and the KM worksheets, Pioneer has begun using a new kind of protocol (Pioneer MIX) for their newer systems - including their Home Theater systems (HTD-510DV, HTD-520DV, NS-DV77/88).

Apparently the URC-8811 (and other OFA remotes ?) can not control these Pioneer systems without reprogramming using a JP1 cable.

I may be wrong about this, as I have only been "hacking" remotes for 2 weeks ;-)

To the best of my knowledge, there is no single setup code that will work these newer Pioneer systems. You might find a few functions scattered among several different codes, but that's not really any help either.

In my case, learning everything from the OEM remote and creating an upgrade was the only real solution (and what got me started with JP1 in the first place!).

Did you happen to find any discreet input codes when you created your upgrade ?

I have tried all EFCs from 0 to 255 with all the possible "byte2"s (0,1,3) without any luck.
(I did however find "Eject" (EFC158,1) which is not on the original remote :-) ).

Could it be, that these Pioneer systems don't have any other functions than those on the original remotes ?

No, I didn't find any discretes. I did, however, find that the individual "mode" selects powered the system on. For example, if it's off and you select Tuner/Band, it powers on in that mode. The same for DVD and Aux. Then the Power (Standby) function turns it off (obviously).


That's been my experience with the 510.

I've got AXD7337 remote, which have 4 Input buttons: DVD/CD, FM/AM, TV and LINE.

Each button is sending 2-part signal. 1st part for all 4 inputs is:
NEC2(1 device),Device=166,OBC=160,HexCmd=FA,EFC=221.

2nd part for the inputs (in the mentioned order):
1. NEC2(1 device),Device=175,OBC=37,HexCmd=5B,EFC=216
2. NEC2(1 device),Device=175,OBC=165,HexCmd=5A,EFC=224
3. NEC2(1 device),Device=175,OBC=163,HexCmd=3A,EFC=227
4. NEC2(1 device),Device=175,OBC=164,HexCmd=DA,EFC=220

I have given up on the search for discrete input select (video 1,2,3) for the system - as Mark says - there might not be any at all.
