I have a 1994 and will soon buy a 2116. My satellite system consists of a PVR 508 receiver and a 301 receiver. The 508 comes with UHF/IR remote. I have added UHF to the 301. I had to change the code on one of the UHF's. Once I change the code the 1994 no longer works the receiver. How can I make the 1994 work?

Thanks,

Mack

I think the RF (aka UHF) stuff here is a Red Herring, the key factor that you mention is the unit code. In order to get the 15-1994 or the 15-2116 to work these units once you change the unit code, you need to add a new code using JP1.

The only other option is to learn the new signals from the Dish remote, assuming that it sends out an IR signal with the unit code encoded.

Rob,

I have somewhat the same question. I have an IR/UHF 6000 and am using a different address code (5) than that on my 5000 (address code 1) which is UHF only (it's the original version that didn't have IR). So, it sounds like if I want to control the 6000 with a 15-2104 or 15-2116, unless I use JP1, I can't do it. I know that with the stock (RS setup) codes, neither remote controls the 6000. And of course I can't test it on the 5000 because it's UHF only. My MX-500 works it just fine (learned from the Dish remote). I wonder if the RS stock codes only use address 1 for control?

As I had said in an earlier post, my goal is to use the RS remotes with advanced codes (or to learn) to discretely control the inputs to my Toshiba HDTV (instead of sequentially), and try to learn individual soundfields on my Sony receiver using the LCD 2-way remote, which doesn't work very well even with my MX-500. And of course operate the Dish 6000, which I can't at all. These learned codes would then be used to teach my MX-500. So, in my case, is JP1 the only option? Or will advanced codes work on a 2104 or 2116 to perform these specific tasks?

By the way, do you know any codes that will control a Dish 6000, since the RS stock codes don't? I also assume that the 2104 and 2116 are essentially the same unit with the exception of more devices to control and the LCD readout on the 2116. Is that correct?

Thanks in advance for any help you can send my way.

If you get a JP1 cable, I'm pretty sure we can figure out the rest.

Rob,

I have my JP1 now and have programmed my 2116 to pretty much do what I need. Now I have to program a 2116 and 2117 for my boss, but in my fretime how do I go about figuring out the new code I talked about for the UHF scenario so I can use my 1994.

Thanks,

Mack

Do you still have a SAT remote that sends IR signals with the correct unit code built in? If so, learn these signals and see what IR.exe reports the signals as being.

If not, search the PVR and SAT folders in the JP1 group for upgrades for this PVR. These files can be opened using the KM spreadsheet where you should be able to change the unit code.

If you have further questions on JP1 programming, you should take them to the JP1 group where there are lots of people who have already tackled this (remember, I don't have a SAT system).
