The remote so far appears to be quite nice, but it has some problems learning. Two basic functions of my DVD player specifically are the problem right now.

The Sony DVP-S7000 has skip, X2 play, and fast forward and fast reverse play (search to CD players).

The 15-1994 skips tracks (CDs) and chapters (DVDs) with the channel up and down buttons. It covers the X2 play mode of the DVD with the "REW" and "FFWD" buttons. It has no way that I have yet discovered to control the fast forward play and fast reverse play so I can't use this feature on the DVD or the search feature when playing CDs with my 15-1994.

Any ideas?

So... is your problem that you can't learn the command from your S7000, or that you don't have anywhere to put it?

I have my choice of several places to put it. No, the problem is that the 1994 won't learn the FF and REW buttons of the player's remote - after several attempts.

Have your tried advanced codes? What's the device code? Have you checked http://www.starbase314.com ?

Are you sure you are performing the learning function correctly? Have you been able to learn any other functions?

I will check on the advanced codes. The device code is 0533 - but the remote needs the CD button to be mapped as a VCR button to work a DVD player. Thanks for the starbase314.com tip, I'll check that out.

I have been able to learn other functions into the 15-1994 from the DVD, receiver, and TV. The FF and REW buttons to the DVD have been the only persistent problem to-date.

I push and hold the green "P" button until the red light flashes twice, then push the 9, 7, and 5 buttons which makes the red light flash twice, push the CD device button at top, then push the Enter button on the 15-1994 (the button does nothing to the DVD now), and the red light blinks rapidly, then I push the FF button on the DVD remote while the remotes are facing each other head-to-head.

Instead of getting a confirming double flash of the red light, it lights once for about 1 full second, and the function is not learned. I have made several attempts to-date.

Thanks.

One long blink generally means that you are out of memory. To get the most out of the 1994 and the Cinema 6 and 7, you generally need to use a mix of extended function codes and learned keys.

See [Link: ampersand.hypermart.net] for the best collection of data on setting up your remote.

I have a DVP-S7000 and a Cinema 7 and you can use advanced code 563 to get the fast forward to work (no need to learn it and it takes less memory. Just map it to whatever key you like.
