Hi, yet another 2117 question. The remote gives "not found" when entering some codes that are listed in the manual. Others work fine. Is it normal for remotes not to actually "contain" all the codes listed in the manual?
Thanks...

Can you name some codes that you aren't finding?

I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. The manual gives the example of setting the TV button to a TV code. That example works fine because the TV button defaults to TV device type. But there's no key that defaults to AMP as device type, and no example in the manual that covers this.
So in case this will be useful to anyone else, here is how it's done:
Hold P key until LED says "Code Set". Press Select once. Press the button you want to assign the AMP code to, say AUX. Press the up or down arrow until AMP appears on the LED. Enter the 4 digit code for your amp. Press Select. LED shoud say "Success". Press Exit, you're done.
You would think (at least, I did) that entering an AMP code would tell the device it's an amp. But no, you have to scroll to the device type before you enter the device code.
Thanks for all the help here...

You have to select the device type before the code because the codes are not unique - one example is TV 0060 and VCR 0060. The way you expected it to work, if you just enter 0060 it would have no idea which one you wanted to use. Don

Speaking of manuals, why isn't the manual for this item on the Radioshack website yet? One of Radioshack's strong points has always been the availability of product manuals online. So why the delay?

Hi G50AE,
I would be willing to email you a scanned copy of my manual if you are still looking to see it. Also to post it here if there's a place for file postings.
It'll probably be a couple of weeks, though. I am heading out on a business trip soon, and have never used my home scanner, so would have to do it afterwards.
Click on my profile and email me if you want it (and if RS hasn't posted it in the meantime).

ehart, I thank you for your considerate offer. My reply was actually more of a rant against Radioshack. I am not one to engage in Shack-bashing, but I see it as a serious oversite to not have this manual online yet. As a customer service issue, what if I had one of these remotes and lost the manual? If the manual was on their website, I would be able to check it out anytime I needed to. Maybe I should call 1-800-THE-SHACK and ask. Afterall, the squeaking wheel gets the grease.
I don't own a 15-2117, yet. :-D But if I were to get one, I would want to have online access to the manual in case I lost the paper copy.
