I'm finding the URC-8811 frustrating. Atfer quite a battle, I finally got it to learn the TV/VCR combo (no code available). Now I need to get it to learn my ReplayTV and Pioneer DVD-R/RW 9000 unit. It refuses to learn.

I'll press and hold the set key - 2 blinks,
then 9-7-5 and two blinks,
then DVD and Power. Rapid blinking. I'll press the button on the DVD writer's remote and the blinking stops with only a single blink. I have tried varying distances and holding before the rapid blinking, after the blinking, etc. But all I'll get it the single blink and no learning. I have tried it in a lit room and in a dark room. Still no go.

I tried the same thing with trying to program the ReplayTV (also no code available) to the cable button and same thing - it will not learn.

Will this thing learn only one device and run out of memory? Is it me? Is this a POS remote?

For one thing, the replay codes are under VCR's,and you only have about enough learned memory for 20-30 learned commands for the whole remote. The 8811 is a preprogrammed remote, with small learning feature, it isn't a true learning remote like the MX-500 or VL-900.

Learning memory is full.

Most of us here don't think it's a POS remote. If you take the trouble to find setup codes for every one of your devices that has them and to find EFCs for every missing function that can use EFCs then you'll probably have enough learning memory for the rest, and the 8811 will be a GOOD remote.

If you get and use a JP1 cable then it's easier to find setup codes, and you can create them if they didn't exist, and its easy to find and use EFCs (even for setup codes that don't normally allow EFCs) and you'll have enough memory for every obscure function in every one of your device, with less total work than messing with all those long presses of "Set". Then the 8811 is a GREAT remote.

Can the 8811 learn to the Power key like he's trying to do? I know I couldn't learn to the Fav key.

Notice that when you try to learn to the Fav key, you don't get the rapid blinking, so you know it's the choice of key that is the problem.
When he tried to get learn to the Power key he got rapid blinking, so something else is wrong. We're guessing (with good reason) that memory is full.
