Is it true if your device has no basic code advanced codes won't work.

Uhm... yes, I think. The advanced codes are gotten from the device code. You can, however, temporarily map advanced codes from a device onto another device, and then remove the source device without losing the mapped device code. At least that's what I've heard. Haven't tried it personally, though.

All true indeed, but alas, that won't help you much if you can't get the advanced codes in the first place if you don't have the basic device code for the product. At which point, you only have 3 options:
1)Get an upgradeable version of the C7 from OFA (ie. a/v Producer), 2)try advanced codes for other devices (TRULY a wild stab in the dark, or rather many, but you never know - some have happened upon function codes for one device that work for another, purely by accident of course), 3) Use the learning capability of the C7 for that product (your best bet)
