Please If anyone out there can give me any other codes for the URC 7800. I have a Philips DSX 5350 Satellite Receiver that I can't get the URC 7800 to work no matter what codes I use. I tryed searching for the codes with no luck. I even tryed every code listed under the satellite section with no luck.

The code you need isn't in the 7800, SAT1142.

SAT1142 is the name of a setup code that could be added to the remote via a JP1 cable.

Without a JP1 cable and assuming Edmund is right (I haven't lookep up anything about the DSX 5350 to check that) you could only control it by learning every code from the orriginal remote into the 7800 (It is a learning remote). But it doesn't have capacity for a lot of learned signals, so you might need to pick just the important ones.

Even with a JP1 cable you need a "header" to connect the cable to the 7800 (most JP1 capable remotes come with that built in, but the 7800 doesn't). With some difficulty you can use the header as an adapter on the end of the cable and not need to take apart the 7800. Most JP1 users prefer to take the 7800 apart and solder in the header, so the cable is then easy to use.

It looks like the Philips DSX series uses the RC6 protocol that has a toggle bit. A toggle bit changes one bit (in this case a wide bit) back and forth with each button press. To get the DSS receiver to recognize 111, that bit must alternate.

AFAIK, the MX series of remotes are learning remotes since many people seem to buy an OFA remotes to program discrete commands into them. Unless the MX series has an internal library that includes the RC6 protocol and the commands for the DSS receiver and can handle a toggle bit, then you will need to learn two sets of commands. To switch to channel 111 then you will need a macro to send:
One(toggle bit=0), One(toggle bit=1), and One(toggle bit=0)

If you don't have the need for repeat commands of the same button, it is not an issue. For example 121 would work fine with learned commands.

If you really want to buy a new remote, my suggestion would be to look at a URC-8811 or an RS 15-2116 they are $30 have the JP1 connector installed and buy a cable for $20 and with that you can create most any IR command and it will not easily become obsolete. The 8811 as well as any JP1 capable remote can handle the RC6 protocol and the toggle bit.

The second benefit is that you can create very elaborate setups, program macros, etc. using your PC rather than the aggravating series of button pushes and save your work.

Hello Jon,
Thanks for the information. I,ll use It to buy a 15-2116 next week if they have them in stock. Because If It's as good as I read I'm sure they will be in short supply.
