I got a 9910 for my dad, and using the JP1, none of the input codes took. I want to be able to map them to the numbers 1,2,3,4 and 5 for SAT, Tuner(receiver), DVD, VCR, and CD changer. I found codes on Rob's site, but they didn't work once uploaded to the remote. I used 150 for TV/DBS, 023 for Tuner, 244 for DVD, 151 for VCR, and 027 for CD. Any ideas what codes I should be using, since these didn't take?

Rob, if you're online, can you help? Also, the Denon device codes for a CD player don't work...any hints?

I don't see anything in you message that looks like a setup code.

If you post the setup code (device type and 4 digit number) there are several of us who would then know whether advanced codes work normally with that setup code and if not, how to get around that via JP1.

I don't know what a Denon 1602 is, so I'm just guessing that your Denon CD player is another device. If you don't have the setup code but do have JP1 you can learn a few signal from the OEM remote and download to IR.EXE and try to decode. If they don't decode in IR.EXE upload the file to the JP1 diagnosis area. (I'm working on a new decoder and I'm looking at all the samples in the diagnosis area).

I'm using the Denon receiver setup code of 0160. It works for on/off, volume, etc. What I'm trying to set up is the advanced codes for the discrete inputs, and set them up on #'s 1 thru 5, so you can punch 3 while in the RECV mode and switch the input from the SAT feed to the DVD (I'm using the Denon as a true audio/video switcher, so I need to be able to switch inputs to get various feeds through the receiver to the TV). And yes, my dad has a Denon 5-disc CD changer, and none of the Denon setup codes will turn it on or off.

Well since setup codes AMP0160 or RCVR0160 aren't in the urc-9910, and RVCR code 1160 doesn't accept advanced codes. I think that explains why the advanced codes you tried didn't work.

Very good point. That brings me to the unfortunate question of, are their advanced codes for RCVR code 1160, specifically for audio/video inputs? I still have the Denon remote, so should I just learn those 5 inputs I'm interested in onto keys through JP1?

No, the majority of the codes that start with 1***, don't accept advanced codes period. Entering the missing commands via learning, has nothing to do with JP1. I'm not the one to explain what JP1 is, I don't even have a computer.

Right, if you want to use learning for the missing commands, JP1 won't help.

Setting up advanced code key moves for protocols that use two-byte commands requires JP1. I haven't looked up 0160 or 1160 to confirm this, but based on what was said above, I expect 1160 is a version of 0160 but using two-byte commands. In that case, it is possible to use JP1 to create key moves in 1160 for 0160's advanced commands. (An alternate JP1 method is to install 0160 as an upgrade setup code).
