Hi, I just bought the URC8011 and I have a Sharp 27DV-S100 TV/VCR/DVD combo. I can get the tv and vcr to work just fine. But the DVD is a no go no how.

Any help??

Thanks,

Ravi

DVD/0630 is the code you are looking for. It doesn't appear to be in the 8011 but call up customer service and they'll load it for you.

Thanks!!

A big bummer that they want me to send the remote to OHIO for them to put the code in. then they say they will erase my settings. AND when I get it back if I reset the unit, I will lose the code they put in.

IT seems to me that this could be done over the phone?'

Universal remote?? Doesn't work with Sharp?

Some UEI modes can be ugraded over the phone. The 8011 can't.

I believe the 8011 is sold without an eeprom, so to upgrade it they need to swap it for one that has an eeprom.

Once you have one with an eeprom, I suggest you get a JP1 cable. That lets you save and reload your settings to a PC, so you won't risk loosing that upgrade with some obscure misuse of the remote. JP1 also lets you create your own upgrades and customize the remote far more than you can without it.

With an eeprom and JP1 it is a fabulous universal remote. Without an eeprom, it is pretty questionable. I guess someone at UEI computed that they can satisfy most customers without the eeprom and save enough money that way to cover the cost of swapping in units with eeproms for a few customers. They clearly mean "universal" to be based on the fact that you CAN send it in for upgrade, not based on what you get without sending it in.
