Has anyone had luck using the Cinema 7 learn discrete On/Off code?

My results: discrete On -> same as power; ie, toggles.
discrete Off -> nothing.

Power works fine; a few inputs were learned.

Any Ideas; Thanks.

Marantz receivers generally use RC5x commands for discrete power commands but I believe that some Marantz receivers my not respond to discrete power commands.

Marantz sort of indirectly publishes its IR commands in the form of a library of ccf files that are for their version of a Pronto. If you give me the model number of the Marantz I may be able to figure out whether it responds at all to discretes.

Finally, the RC5 and RC5x protocols that Maranz typically uses both have a toggle bit. That means that one bit toggles back and forth each time you press the button. So they can be tricky to learn.

Also please be specific about your C7. What is the URC # for it since there may be a significant difference in this case.

Thanks Jon for your response.

Marantz Receiver SR 7000; URC #7800 I believe (I'm at the office).

Another strange behavior - believe it or not I'm using the C7 to control Hunter Douglus Power Rise Shades. Using CD device on the C7, I can use the up arrow to raise the shades, but had to use the L2 button for lowering - the down arrow would not take (learn). I would think if up arrow learned, down should also. I wonder if there is something wrong with the remote although other components work fine with addvanced codes and learning.

Again, thanks for your response.

The official codes for the 7000 don't show discrete power commands (other models do). There has been one report that the Input commands act as discrete power commands also. Many receivers do this so give that a try. If so On is just the input command and discret off is a macro for a discrete input command then power toggle. Something like DVD|Power toggle.

You'll have to give me the CD setup code to answer that question unless you are saying that you learned that command to the CD up button.

I can only think of two possible explanations:

1) You happened to do something wrong when learning to the down key (aimed the remote badly, too close, too far apart, pressed a wrong key, took too long and timed out, etc.). There are enough things that might go wrong that when it fails it's worth just trying again.

2) Memory was full AND you already had a previous learned signal on L2. The remote knows that the memory from a previous signal will be available for a new one, so when it decides whether the signal it is trying to learn will fit in memory, it takes into account the size of any previous signal on the key you are trying to learn to.

Thanks for your responses. I was able to get the Cinema 7 to learn on the down button for lowering my Hunter Douglas power rise shades by first having my Marantz RC7000SR remote first learning it (this took many tries adjusting distance/angle) and then having the Cinema 7 learn it from the Marantz remote. Perhaps more trial and error would have led to success having the Cinema 7 learn it first.
I am not able to get the Marantz SR7000 to discrete power up using Input commands from the 7000 remote and therefore would not expect the Cinema 7 to do this. What puzzles me is that the Marantz remote has seperate on and off buttons for the reciever and the Cinema 7 can't learn these. I know it was not a memory problem since other functions were learned afterwards.
Again, thanks for your help.
