Just checked the table for 1023 and found that functions are associated with something like Button ID's. Question - how to find a physical button associated with specific ID?

For example:
X49 Direct
X54 Direct

Without looking at your post in an earlier thread, I wouldn't know 1023 referred to "Pioneer Receiver (code 1023)".

Even looking there, I don't know what "the table" means. I also don't know what you mean by "Button ID's". I doubt that you mean what that phrase would normally mean in a JP1 context.

I do know that setup code 1023 uses 2-byte hex commands, so you can't use advanced codes for it without JP1. If you're using JP1, you should ask the question in the Yahoo group and provide a little more detail.

ok, will try to simplify...
if you would go to
[Link: hifi-remote.com]
(there is no table for 1023 on Rob's site yet)

you will see

NOTE: amp/0300 is a combo code (ie, it uses 2-byte commands) which means
you cannot program buttons using advanced codes. This list just
shows you what functions are pre-programmed to the buttons.

0300 X34 5-D Theater X40 Direct X33 Loud X39 Speaker A
X53 5.1 CH X48 Effect Level X58 Midnight X19 Speaker B
etc.

My question was "how to find a button referred as X34 for example".

I have no clue what the top section of that file means. If Rob doesn't notice this thread and explain that, you ought to ask him by email. I assume he knows where he got the table from.

The bottom section relates buttons to functions. I can't see any way in which the Xnn numbers in the top section relate to either the buttons in any UEI remote or the transmitted signals for those functions.

I suppose Rob got that file from UEI. I've personally got the file for 1023 from the same source.

if you have a 1023 file from ueic, why don't you email a copy to rob, so he can post it?

I believe the X in question refers to eXtended codes as UEI previously referred to synthesizers. They are numbered for convention, not to show any relationship to the keys. The only part of the report that is relevant is the lower half which shows what functions are assigned to the keys. All eXtended functions are shown but can not be programmed without jp-1.

thanks for all your answers
For jamesgammel - I've sent AMP1023 file (as well as some additions to TV0054) to Rob a couple of days ago, probably he had no time to add it.

Like I mentioned in my reply to your email, I haven't added the 1023 list because it serves no purpose, and in fact when I get a chance I will delete the 0300 list because it has generated more questions than it answers.

I don't know if the x numbers mean anything to anyone except UEI, but I do know that they don't mean anything useful.

The only way to figure out the real codes for these functions is using the JP1 learning method that I described to you by email.

Just my 2 cents ;-)
I think it's better to leave pages for 0300 and 1023 on server, remove X-codes from them and put short comment instead, saying that No Advanced Codes Available, because of...
This will keep most of the people from asking.
