rapidly flashing in step 4, it terminates with
2 flashes and the button is *ALMOST* learnt.
It learned exactly what was sent. But an RC-5 signal (which TV/0054 is) alternates between two different signals each time you press it (this is called a "toggle bit") and you only learned one of the two.
(ie it will work ONCE,
but then subsequent presses will not work. eg.
I learn the A/V button which cycles through the
video inputs: Pressing the learned button once
will select the first input, but subsequent pushes
will not do anything.)
When the toggle bit isn't toggling (which always happens with a learned signal) the functions normally work, but not when you use the same function twice in a row. You need to use some other function in between to make it work again.

but there are 3 Hex Codes, and EFC's listed.
That's normal. IR can't know which of three posibilities is right.
Questions are:
Am I performing the learning function correctly?
(ie should you have to press the button to be
learned while the LED is flashing rapidly??)

Is the fact that 3 EFC codes being found for a
single key a problem?
It's inconvenient, but normal for RC-5. IR.EXE also lists an OBC and using OBCs for an upgrade may be easier to understand.
If you do a Key Move rather than an upgrade, the three EFCs listed cover the three parts os Setup code TV/0054 which are:
1) Device 0 for OBCs 00 to 63.
2) Device 3 for OBCs 00 to 63.
3) Device 0 for OBCs 64 to 127.
Assuming the OBC and device decoded by IRfit one of those three sets, the corresponding EFC should work in a key move.
(I have
tried all three separately via an upgrade, but
NONE of the three (by themselves) work.)
In an upgrade you need to specify (on the setup sheet) the three sets of OBCs that you want to have available in that upgrade.
If you still need help with an upgrade, post (in the JP1 group, not here) all the device numbers IR.EXE decodes for any keys you want to include, as well as whether the OBCs for each device are <=63 or >63 or both.
