Hi All,
I have been programming my new RS 15-2116 with the JP1 cable, KM and IR. It’s been great; I’ve added a couple of devices, a couple of protocols, some key moves and a few macros.

I understand that the macros are independent of device selections. What I want is to assign a key to run a macro only for one device, and re-use that key for something else in another device. I tried assigning a macro to a phantom key (ph8), and use key move to assign a device dependent key to ph8, but could find the EFC/HEX Cmd for ph8 in IR.

ph8 is defined in the .RDF file for the remote you are using. (If the RDF does not show a value for that key, the value is one higher than the key before it. Somewhere back in the list (ph1?) there will be a value). But you need to use a special protocol ('DSM')for calling macros with a keymove. Download the SpecialProtocols zip file to find DSM.

The alternative solution to your needs is to assign the macro to the key, and also do keymoves on the same key for all devices (modes) that are not supposed to run the macro.

I downloaded “selective-macro.txt” - Allows to assign a macro to a button of a specific device, instead of it being active on all devices from the Yahoo JP1 group. This file has support for the RS 15-1994, there’s another file that supports the 15-1995. Which special protocol file should I use for my 15-2116? Thanks.

There is a spreadsheet that contains generic versions of several of the special protocols together with logic to customize those for each model.

It is in this zip:

I downloaded “special-protocols.zip” from the Yahoo JP1 group and ran the special-protocols-v1.11.xls spreadsheet. Selected Device Specific Macro as the special-protocol and 15-2116 as the remote. To get the HEX, I click on the Button dropdown under the Other Date area, the selections are very small and no phantom keys listed.

You might want to post in the Yahoo group and ask Mark to improve that spreadsheet.

Even though it doesn't give you the hex code for the phantom key, it does give you the customized protocol you needed for the 15-2116.

You don't NEED to use that "Other Data" section at all. It's just there to save you the trouble of looking the value up in the RDF file. (If that's unclear, follow the instruction in the orriginal selective macros file for creating the hex cmd of the key move, but use the device upgrade and protocol upgrade from the spreadsheet).
